First thought hearing the DWP announcement was about PIP. It highlights its biggest flaw—the broken point-scoring system. A score of 4 for one person isn’t the same for another. By tribunal stage, decision aren’t thinking in points, but about how the condition affects daily life. #Welfare #CFS/ME

We are once again talking about "welfare" instead of social security. "Welfare" individualises state support, when what the UK built in the post-war years was a social security system which served our common endeavour. "Welfare" is the language of tabloids; it should not be the language of Labour.

I have a feeling that ME/CFS will come off badly in the #welfare review. I am particularly annoyed at how government ministers mix up the benefits so that PIP that helps people stay in work is mentioned in the same breath as ill health benefits. Never expected this from a Labour government.
