I've lived under martial law. Tanks, troops in the streets, helicopters. Suspended Bill of Rights, arrests without charges or warrants. No right to see a lawyer.
People held incommunicado. That was Canada, October, 1970 during terrorism. War Measures Act. The U.S. version will be much worse.

Trump is often nattering on about how Canada is going to become your 51st state. So is the White House Press Secretary.
Canadians are boycotting American goods and many are cancelling trips to the USA.
You just can't show up in Canada and expect admittance. It depends on whether one is accepted.

Trump will have to annihilate 40 million Canadians. We won't surrender Canada to the orange malevolence.
The second largest country in the world will be difficult to hold onto. Especially fun when it's - 30. Plus guerilla warfare.

He's constantly threatens to annex Canada. It's no joke. We aren't laughing.
The White House Press Secretary talked about annexing Canada recently. If it were just once it could be a joke but it's not done to allies.
Canadian kids ask their parents when is the USA invading & bombing? 'Hilarious.'

Many Canadians regard the Trump 'administration' as a hostile foreign power, drooling constantly about annexing Canada. Trump talks about it constantly and Canadians are watching.
If invasion happens, we will make Vietnam look like a picnic. Canadians are ruthless in warfare. We defend 🇨🇦 Canada.
comment in response to

Not a distraction. If someone tells you who they are, believe them.
Today, Trump doubled down on annexation. Recently, the White House Press Secretary droned on about Canada becoming the 51st state.
We feel like Ukraine before Putin invaded. The USA as a hostile foreign power licking its chops.

Friends? That is increasing becoming so very past tense, when a once reliable ally actually threatens my country's very existence.
I regard the government of the USA as a hostile foreign power. Meanwhile, Canadians are increasingly boycotting American goods and travel.

Oh, golly gee. The President of the United States tells Canadians that he will wage economic war on Canada (basically his attempt to crash our economy) in his bid to forcibly annex my country.
Canadians will never crawl before the orange despot. He will likely invade if we don't comply.
comment in response to

Sure, annexation & the destruction of Canada is sooo funny, nothing to worry about here, except for the president of the USA waging economic war against Canada to annex us.
It would be an act of war and I'm supposed to lighten up? I will remember that should l have to engage in guerilla warfare.

He would not really give statehood, more like a territory with no voting rights. Trump always lies

Threats to annex Canada, ending our existence as an independent country is just a 'diversion.' Canadian children ask their parents if American troops will bomb our cities.
No doubt the Ukrainians felt that the Russian threat of annexation was a mere 'distraction' before Putin invaded Ukraine.
comment in response to

No thanks, Canada has its own problems without importing yours.
There are only 40 million Canadians, so we don't want to be outnumbered in our own country.

He's replacing military personnel, even on the Joint Chief of Staffs with flunkies. And the Pentagon.
Puts a totally dysfunctional and unqualified Secretary of Defence/Defense. What could go wrong?
Hopefully most members of the military uphold their oath to the constitution re Insurrection Act.

To Canadians the constant threat of annexation isn't a distraction. A threat to the survival of Canada. He's dead serious about annexation. It's nefarious.
It may seem like a distraction to Americans, but he talks about the 'artificial border' like Putin referred to Ukraine before the invasion.
comment in response to
post
Perfect!
comment in response to

No, because Canadians would go to war rather than surrender to annexation.
comment in response to

He constantly talks about annexing Canada. He's the American president, threatening Canada with economic war.
It may be a distraction for Americans, but he's threatening our existence as a nation. Says the border is artificial. We aren't viable as as nation. That's what Putin said about Ukraine.
comment in response to

He's serious and purely transactional. He wants to be 🤴 king for life, shred American democracy, deconstruct the administrative state to do it.
Destroying western alliances so that the USA, Russia and China can each have spheres of control. He's like a mob boss plotting with other mob bosses.
comment in response to

Believe me, we are. Boycotting travel to the USA, not buying American products. He keeps talking annexation continually, we feel threatened. He says he'll use economic means to crush our economy but we won't crawl.
He will likely find some 'national security' excuse to invade and 🇨🇦 will fight back.
comment in response to

Many of my rural friends are strongly against annexation. Even conservatives.
comment in response to

Mainly older Canadians. We just want to be respected as an independent country, not a chunk of real estate to be acquired.
Some Americans think that everyone dreams of being American, but most Canadians would go to war rather than be annexed. Trump keeps bringing up annexation, a direct threat.
comment in response to

He wants to destroy NATO, the Western alliance, extort Ukraine for its essential minerals, divvy up the world between the USA, Russia & China.
For Canada, he's a direct threat to our national survival. Annex Canada. Not a distraction, it's against our survival. A direct threat. He's our Putin.
comment in response to

Thanks for that. Yes, but Trump is constantly threatening to annex Canada. The President of United States. A supposed ally.
Kids are asking parents if American troops are going to invade.
Democrats are against this, yet often talk about Canada increasing blue votes. Canada 🇨🇦 isn't negotiable.
comment in response to

Canadians vote federally ...generally to the left. Once in awhile right, but liberal federal governments are the norm.
Presidential elections are federal, not state, so voting would be to the left for Presidential elections.
All moot, because most Canadians are strongly against joining the USA.
comment in response to
post
More Canadians generally vote left in federal elections, provincial govrnments can often be conservative. Canada is far more liberal than the USA.
Canadians will never surrender our nation to the USA and allow the death of our country. We will go to war to defend Canada 🇨🇦 if necessary. Not USA.
comment in response to
post
No. Conservatives constantly whine about him over everything including what falls under provincial jurisdiction.
They complain about the cuts to military but the Harper cut military spending when they were in power. Trudeau wasn't perfect but preferable to conservatives.
comment in response to

The Progressive Conservative Party wasn't the same as Maga. The present Conservative Party of Canada is a tent for social conservatives,
Ex-Reform/Alliance Party, Preston Manning types to gobble up Canadian conservatism. They are sympathizers to Maga and would yield to Trump. Can't trust Poilievre.
comment in response to

That's cute, wishing for the death of Canada to fix your political crisis. Canadians are supposed to end our country's existence to solve your problems.
With friends like the USA, who needs enemies? It's like watching a bird of prey salivating over Canada's death. 🇨🇦 will never be conquered. Ever.
comment in response to

True, but he is unrelenting on the
annexing Canada crud, even his Press Secretary babbles about it.
For Canadians, it's a direct threat, he wants to crush our economy & annex. It's no joke/distraction to us.
Canadians are boycotting travel and U.S. products and will fight any military invasion.

Not specifically. But there is Article 5, an attack on one is an attack on all.

A Magat posted how the USA will crush Canada, he is in for quite the guerilla warfare surprise. Normally, many Canadians are nice, but if our home is invaded, Canadians will fiercely defend Canada. 🇨🇦
Trump just keeps doubling down with his 51st state threats.
comment in response to

You know that Trump would nuke any part or all parts of the USA should they try to secede or join up with Canada.
Plus, the 300 plus million Americans would vastly outnumber 40 million Canadians, we'd be outnumbered in our own country with people who are culturally different.
comment in response to
post
Americans are culturally Americans and they out number Canadians ten to one.
We could 'take over,' but Americans would still have tons of guns, your crime rates and a variety of other problems that only Americans can find a solution to.
comment in response to

Trump is cruel. He'd nuke any state attempting to leave the DisUnion. He's like a mob boss, especially to blue states
comment in response to

Yet he constantly posts about it. He checked out the treaty pertaining to the establishment of the border.
He says that he will annex Canada by economic force, (attempt to crash our economy.) If that fails, military invasion could follow. I do political science, he's serious.
comment in response to

Shove it, Magat. Canadians have a ruthless war history. Invade and find out. We'll be happy to send invaders home,💀. Canada 🇨🇦 is never going to surrender to the likes of the orange Magat.

Living next to a rogue superpower that drones on about annexing its neighbour induces perfectly rational fear about future intentions.
Of course, some Americans may not get the fact that being threatened is a problem, that everything revolves only around domestic American problems.
comment in response to

He would be invading another NATO country, Denmark will never abandon Greenland. Article 5 can be invoked. Same goes for invading Canada.
Trump is nut enough to try it. He'd better stock up on body bags if he tries to take over free countries.
comment in response to

Canadians will fight to the death against annexation. Guerilla warfare like Trump has never seen it before. They couldn't defeat Vietnam, so they won't take over Canada, the second largest country in the world with brutal winters.

Awww, is the 11th province pouting again?
🇨🇦 Canada, the true north, strong and FREE. Never will be the 51st state. Forever Canada! 🇨🇦

American hubris, thinking that the entire planet revolves around the USA. We exist because we are an independent nation. The USA is the only country to invade Canada. You will likely do it again.
If there ever were a nuclear war, the USA couldn't protect itself, civilization will end as we know it.

Comply? Are we your hired help?
There are more illegals coming *into Canada from the USA* than the other way around.
Bet you didn't know that fact. Plus, only 0.2 percent of fentanyl to the USA comes from Canada but the USA sends more drugs into Canada.
Trump is full of it as usual.

No, we just hate the Magats.
And should Trump invade Canada 🇨🇦, we will get very nasty. Hope Trump likes guerilla warfare.
