not sure if you like to cook. Here's a recipe that I put together. (You can leave out the lobster if you want to do this vegan. It's just as good). www.washokurenaissance.com/lobster-brai...

Here's what the Dem's can do. 1. Remind people that they will be in power someday. 2. Explain that they will happily use eminent domain to seize all of this land back with no restitution. 3. That they will also seize a whole bunch of other stuff for clean up. 4. And don't think an LLC will help

thanks. She was a very sweet cat. I think she had a good life, even if she hated the vacuum cleaner.

I lost Bastet on Friday. She had a massive stroke or a heart attack. She was fine in the morning. Purring like a maniac. She let loose an awful noise mid afternoon and was dead before I made it across the room...

Signal has fairly standard permissions regarding chat's and the like. I think that the most likely scenario is the "mole", however, I would be surprised if that individual was new member versus the originator. Easiest course of action would see to be asking "What's up with this" on the chat...

I listened to your focus group. My reaction? These people are greedy, stupid, and many are down right evil. That woman who was going off at the beginning? "Gimme, Gimme, Gimme! I need more!" broken up by an occasional vitriolic attacks on the "other".

Maybe it's the accelerations in me, but I can't help but believe that the correct approach here is to have Noem's security detail arrested and put away for assault and battery.

So, what you are saying is that he lied under oath to congress. Simply inform his that 1. At some point in time, the Democrats will be in charge. 2. When that happens, he is going to jail for five years.

Which is more centralized: the military or a random collective of protestors? I don't see a practical way of making sure that all protestors don't show up. Some small minority is going to make bad decisions. Conversely, the military is a lot more centralized. This is the point of leverage

Perhaps it would be better to address this with, say, The Atlantic or perhaps Bard College. Because, of course, the folks that they those institutions chose to hire and support does indeed reflect on them...

Not sure if you're run into an author named Tim Powers. He's done a bunch of really great stuff. Excellent distraction from the world at large. Particularly recommend "Last Call" and "Declare!"

One thing that I have learned over the years, is that it is often much more effective to press criminal charges than go the civil case route. The cops aren't going to be in a position to help make you whole but they will actually arrest people. There is satisfaction to be had and it sets a precedent

I think that you're being unfair to Rahm. I don't think that he would ever cover things up if a white teenager was killed by black police officers.

When I went to school, cheating was grounds for expulsion. My father was a college professor. I know for a fact that he personally had multiple undergraduates expelled for plagiarism. Not sure what changed. I don't think it was for the better.

Please tell me that the programmer was fired because 1. It is unsafe having him work on anything. 2. This provides a good object lesson to the rest of the programmers

Is this in reference to Packer or Vance? (I presume the former)

I think that the issue is more with the way in which the definition of Artificial Intelligence has changed. Large Language Models should not be described as artificial intelligence. At least not using traditional metrics.

Interesting. I wonder if they just hung a net up top whenever they needed to harvest a bunch...

y understanding is that the primary purpose of a dove cote is to harvest guano. This looks kind impractical in that I have no clue how folks would be able to scrape out the individual holes. But perhaps the doves mainly shit in the center area... I am legitimately interested in the answer to this.

what is that? Some insane dovecote?

I don't get why anyone would pretend that Matt Yglesias's positions have an intellectual credibility, let alone consistency.

Why not engage on some of the more significant examples like the Harvard researcher who is currently in jail? I know its more convenient for you to cherry pick stuff that you find silly - fine, whatever - but you're ignoring the real stuff.

One of the big issues that we have yet to deal with is that Trump leaves no good options for whoever comes next... Can the next executive trust anyone who was appointed by Trump or even those who survived what's going on now?

Absolutely nothing has changed. He was always a narcissistic sociopath. He's simply manifesting things slightly differently. When were the good old days? When he was selling heroin to friends and family? When he drove his wife to suicide? Look at what his own family says about him...

"Best practices" can spread quickly even without any kind of formal orders. I'm not sure that there are "orders" promoting this. I do very much believe that there are no orders banning this which feels equally damning.

Bullshit. Horowitz lurched from one form of extremist idiocy to another to another. His core never changed even if the outward manifestations might have.

We had a Champions campaign back in undergrad. (We also played a lot of Rolemaster). Champions was oft referred to as "great whopping handfuls of dice"...

For me, at least the rise of more "science" based cookbooks and content was a godsend. Having authors explain why different steps are necessary helped enormously, both in providing motivation as well as learning technique. "This is why you need to wash your rice" versus rinse your rice...

I can't help but hope that the reason that Douthat ended up on his solo long form podcast is that no one else at the Times was willing to appear with him any more. It did seem like his "Matter of Opinion" co-hosts became more an more scarce over time.

Good question. Douthat was raised by religious cultists. So is this a question of nature or nature?

In my experience, the most important difference is the quality of the fruits and vegetables. I find it much easier to find good veggies and the like in Europe. I can find similar stuff in the US, especially at Asian markets and CSA's, but I need to work at it.
