you’re fired. wait you’re rehired. email us a list of things you’ve done today wait forget it you’re fired again. come back your job was important. you’re fired. or hired. come in to the office. wait the office has no computers go home. we are the department of government efficiency.

In this Ohio town, it was tradition: Latin mass, sausage at Bob Evans, and then down to the old Treasury Department servers to download every American’s Social Security number. But now the woke mob wants to take all that away.

There are moments with this federal deferred resignation offer where I think “why am I making this so hard, just take it and be done with it.” Like “going home” in Soylent Green., so easy.

Worried about our nation’s descent into fascism? This one pot cacio e pepe will make you feel like you’re in 1920s Italy.

One of America's two major political parties seems to have embraced the position that the founders of this country really secretly intended to create a monarchy just like the one they fought to overthrow and that all this democracy talk these past 250 years was just woke political propaganda.

We’re working on reducing our expenses. It’s not easy to break spending habits, especially since we don’t know for certain either is us will lose a job, but the probability of that happening has increased significantly.

We’re meant to calmly accept the absurd idea that any white man is innately qualified for any job or position, no matter what his education, resume or proven capabilities and any non-white man or woman inherently stole their way into employment via #DEI. This of course is pure, undiluted fascism.

The learning platform for our government agency has been taken down for maintenance. I’m assuming it’s so the new administration can review and remove any content that they deem ideologically inappropriate.

This termination of federal remote work is going to be interesting. Our agency stopped leasing most of our office space from GSA and a lot of employees/contractors live in different cities now.

I’ve been mostly ignoring all this for sanity since mid-November or so, but here it comes…

We have one of those entertain your cats videos on. Are those coconuts?

We had a minimal intervention wine with a maximal intervention dinner.

Pulled this Garagiste wine out of the cellar. I can’t remember if the label looked like this when we got it or not. 🤷‍♂️

Nice snowy day in Kansas City for trimming the 🌲 and studying.

There’s been a huge movement off Twitter for obvious reasons. It’s much less understood, by the average person at least, how problematic FB is.

Watching a David Jerison lecture on differentials and antiderivatives from the MIT 18.01 class (on YouTube) for maybe the fourth time. I watch some of these every six months or so. Mathematical intuition is elusive at my age and needs refreshing.

We’re listening to the Kendrick Lamar album that just came out a couple of days ago. As a 58 year old white guy from the Midwest there’s no need for my take on it. Sounds really good, that’s all I’ll say.

Finished running Kansas City’s Vineyard neighborhood. This is one of the few neighborhoods in the central part of KCMO with mostly postwar houses.

I haven’t read Agatha Christie since like 1978 and this kills me

Haven’t watched this for ages.

The iconic VT-100 terminal. I doubt I ever used one of these, but I did use VT-100 emulation in various virtual terminals for decades afterwards. The main physical terminal I remember from my college years was the Wyse 50. You rarely saw a new, clean one like this.

DEC VT-100 (1978)

👏👏👏

Side eye queen

Spent a couple of hours in the St. Luke’s ER this eve waiting to get a CT scan after this morning’s car accident. Everything’s fine apparently. NSAID and muscle relaxer helping. 🫠

Beautiful day to wait for a tow though

Anyone know a good body shop for collision repair near downtown Kansas City? Along Truman Rd. perhaps?

I also finished running the streets of the East Community Team South neighborhood of KC yesterday. It’s mostly residential here and cut off from Ingleside and Knoches Park to the south by I-70.

Welcome, Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas! Or at least it might be Mayor Q. Time will tell…

Polio flyer in my Mom’s high school scrapbook circa 1949. I assume the spoon was for the vaccine.

Clearance cat toys from PetSmart. I can tell these won’t be a big hit like the catnip rainbow but we do find that stuff like this moves around the house.
