@jenpsaki.msnbc.com: “Yes, people are pissed. And it is not hard to see why. As we watch these protests play out across the country, we're also watching a metaphorical ticking bomb… in a country where we suddenly have to worry about the safety of air travel, and of our *literal* nuclear bombs.”

Elon Musk’s claim of Social Security fraud is…a fraud. www.wired.com/story/elon-m...

Thousands of protesters opposing President Trump’s agenda took to the streets on Monday across the U.S., derisively calling him a “king” on Presidents’ Day for his efforts to terminate thousands of federal workers and to fire prosecutors and independent watchdogs. nyti.ms/3CQA2LX

Give it a listen

If you to send something to friends and family who don't follow the news closely something that'll bring them up to speed, try this @nprfreshair.bsky.social interview with @charliesavage.bsky.social, who has been covering attempts to expand executive power for 30 years. www.npr.org/2025/02/17/g...

@normeisen.bsky.social: “Many, many Tweets today about our work and our case and me from Mr. Musk… he's supposed to be in charge of government efficiency. How does he have time to do all this Tweeting? I think he's not used to being held accountable.”

@davidhogg.bsky.social: “When the PACT Act was sunk by Republicans… I showed up on the steps of the US Senate, where many veterans were literally sleeping out there protesting… I gave them my Twitter and I said, ‘Tell us your story.’ That's what we need to be doing with these federal workers.”

'This doesn’t have to keep happening': WSJ editorial board begs Trump ally to change: A measles outbreak in Texas prompted the conservative Wall Street Journal editorial board to issue an urgent plea to Robert F. Kennedy Jr., an anti-vaccine conspiracy theorist and the nation's new secretary of…

Cathy Harris – the chair of a board protecting government workers from unfair employment practices – sued the Trump administration for illegally firing her, arguing that her termination violated federal law and the U.S. Constitution.

This is good advice.

If you’re not confirmed by the Senate then you have no business meddling in the lives of MILLIONS of Americans We are suing DOGE for violating the constitution & illegally seizing power I’ll discuss tonight @ 8PM ET on @insidewithpsaki.msnbc.com 👇 statedemocracydefenders.org/fund/new-law...

@crew.bsky.social's latest lawsuit: Trump’s illegal EO converts "potentially tens of thousands of merit-based civil servants to at-will employees, enabling political appointees to fire and replace them with loyalists" and exceeds the president’s authority www.citizensforethics.org/wp-content/u...

The rush to destroy things like USAID and other agencies before lawsuits can stop them is to make it moot. When our stupidly slow judicial system finally moves to stop them it will be far too late. If all 10,000 USAID employees are home and projects abandoned it’s done. It’s evil.

Chicago clearly will not be silent under this new administration. Felt serious get-sh!t-done vibes at our @indivisiblechicago.bsky.social event this weekend plus a hefty dose of inspiration.

Lies. Why not say lies. Why not explore why he lies. Why all authoritarians lie. FFS

Here I was, all worried that the DoJ OLC might tell Garland he can't release the report, then BAM. Judicial terrorist Aileen Cannon dips her robes into the mix and blocks it. I hope the DoJ finds a way around this and is able to get the report out to the public.

. @jillwine-banks.bsky.social is wise. My concern is the Supreme Court.

Someone tell Ol Ball Coach that there’s an ocean on the other side where we actually have a lot of ships

What a phenomenal and terrifying piece of journalism.

What’s happening in North Carolina is way more damaging to democratic norms than trump’s gulf of America troll.

1/ Nice tidbit in a supplemental filing from Nauta & De Oliveria, confirming they realize Judge Cannon lacks jurisdiction to bar release of Special Counsel's report. Of course, she never had jurisdiction over the J6 case & can't bar that part, but she dismissed the MAL case & can't act further on it

"The legacy media is not just tamed. Some of its most prominent participants act like obedient puppies...Several of the billionaire owners have even paid for the privilege — cutting seven figure checks to fête Trump at his inauguration."

This is what I have been dreading. Too many friends want to treat this as a normal election. The conversations have been sounding like they would have 20 years ago. Not wanting to acknowledge what Trump can actually destroy.

Ultra-wealthy elites. Political corruption. Corporate monopolies. Anti-immigrant nativism. Vast inequality. These problems aren’t new. In the late 1800s, they dominated the country during America’s first Gilded Age. We overcame these abuses then, and we can do so again.

Thank you President Carter These pallbearers are the agents sho protected him for decades

How petty and narcissistically self-absorbed do you have to be to whine about the fact that the flag will be at half-mast on Inauguration Day?

Respect to @anntelnaes.bsky.social for quitting the Washington Post due to censorship over her on-point cartoon. More of this from artists and writers, please. Don't obey in advance, especially to the broligarchy.

Everything stated in this post is a provable fact. You are entitled to your own opinion. You are not entitled to your own facts. Looking at YOU, 2020 election-deniers.

This is highly disconcerting. WaPo editors killed an editorial cartoon that mocked Bezos and other tech oligarchs. Will the Post respond to this? Democracy dies with accommodation. anntelnaes.substack.com/p/why-im-qui...
