Is that the one where the shadow tries to get him and he's like "You're in the biggest library in the universe. My name is The Doctor. Look me up."

They *are* stupid. Watching Elon and Trump argue over this like two beefing pop artists makes me think that better ppl can beat them.

I had to explain that to a new hire when I retired. They asked me when Impostor Syndrome stopped. And I said, "Hopefully at 4:30pm today."

Writing is the one activity where I *don't* profoundly feel Impostor Syndrome.

It amazes me, looking back over those years and bae telling me what ppl said to her. And remembering what ppl said to me *about* her. Oh, a pretty girl is happy?! Wtf!? We better stop that!

Yes, I remember the dickheads who tried to dump on us, get in our way, turn us toward some kind of stereotypical sitcom bitterness/bullshit. Be wary, lovers. Those people aren't your friends. Their misery need not be yours.

Those stats are coming from *where*, though?

I was in university in the mid 90s. Engineering gave me: - 1 elective first year (humanities, I took a language) - 1 elective third year (humanities, part 2 of the same language) - 1 choice in fourth year (Engineering Society, Engineering History, Labour Studies) I am grateful for Labour Studies

Oh, yeah. A whole lot of f'ers out there can't even arithmetic their way out of a paper bag. Makes you vulnerable to all sorts of scams.

And make room in every engineering and science curriculum for a bit of philosophy, literature, etc.

It's sitting down and making the kids read, rather than go home and ChatGpt a book report back at you without actually reading it.

No, that's definitely the whole point of this endeavour. Did anyone believe it was about "government efficiency"?

Did Elon actually threaten to withdraw his Dragon capsules? Because that would do it.

But he put all those Kindness Coins into the Sex Vending Machine!!!! Why isn't it removing its panties?!?!? He should write to the Company. #StrongWordedLetter

"Alcohol made me say that" -> "Alcohol let the real me out" Weird he's kept it inside for 3 years+

That's weird. When I was growing up, and things were even more racist, DP was an impolite way of referring to a recent immigrant. DP = Displaced Person i.e. they're going to be making fun of your accent later and exaggerating how hard it is to understand you.

I can see how automating parts of any production cycle could free up money for the creative parts - if that's what you're doing. e.g. a company I used to work for farmed out its payroll (they were shit at payroll anyway). That meant more funds for the creative staff.

That's very likely. I mean, I'm sure matrilineal societies weren't fond of random babies from ignorant teenagers either, but they probably would find less misogynistic ways to solve that problem. Like teaching people about oral sex and handjobs or something.

I used 2 look back on that n think: "This all started because they didn't have reliable birth control thousands of years ago" These societies didn't want ignorant teenagers making random babies they couldn't care for. And that became all the slut-shaming and misogyny. Dunno if history supports that.

I think that's what we're trying to remove. This "tradition" that uses sexuality against people (esp. women) is a tradition that we don't need and is actively harming women, harming relationships and making sex less enjoyable.

Get rid of the idea of "virginity" as well, especially for girls/women (yes for men, too, but it's much less weaponised against us). There's nothing lesser in a woman or girl because she's had sex before.

You know he'll put a tariff on it, too. "Get sick and survive it like a Real American(tm)"

I did this with $200 and the two characters ended up in love. The only downside is that I publish one chapter at a time, so I'm not allowed to go back and insert things. I just have to leave loose ends in early chapters and hope it works out or no one notices.

My parents were big M.A.S.H. watchers, so I remember those scenes with deep nostalgia. My favourite was the bomb-disarming scene ... Guy on megaphone, reading instructions: "Cut the Blue wire" Hawkeye: [snip] Megaphone: [flips page] "after cutting the red wire" Hawkeye: 👀

Also, keep the poor women ignorant so they can keep making poor children for whatever factory work we still need done.

Translating, if I may. "The life of you peons is short and brutish anyway, so I don't see the point in making a big deal out of an earlier and more painful demise."

Any time I see someone getting angry at first line support (wait staff, reception, phone support etc.), I feel my eyes narrow. It's always, always misdirected anger. Never get angry at the poor bastard that got awkwardly stuck between the bosses and you.

I think I came up with "Xavier" and bae added the "Torch". Possibly "Xavier" came about because I liked the abbreviation Xav, and the only "Xav" I can remember was the fictional character "Prince Xav" from the Miles #Vorkosigan series. vorkosigan.fandom.com/wiki/Xav_Vor...

Like... wtf are you doing? "I'm helping you!" You are not. You are making arbitrary changes to my everyday activities and getting angry at me for not conforming. Who ordered this? Not me. "But I'm helping. You men can't do anything right." This makes no sense. I neither want nor need this help. /e

I don't think I've ever had a work nightmare. Once or twice, a university nightmare, but really, high school was where all my trauma was.

A little touch on the shoulder or whatever, attached to a polite smile that says, "I know you're excited dear, but..." I mean, honestly, I'd have to hear the volume to judge. It's possible this is an overbearing S.O., or maybe the guy is just way to f'ing loud.

Now, now. Ever since 1982, we've been colonising ourselves, thank you very much.
