For federal workers who have been laid off:

Trump Republicans expand their enshitification of America

We would be in a whole different world if the Democrats had actually done their jobs after January 6 and held Trump accountable. But instead, they’re trying to throw trans Folks under the bus and partner with people like Steve Bannon and Marc Andressen for clout.

DC lawyers: please vote vote vote vote VOTE!!

🤨

I’ll be there from the park to the capitol! Hope all of Atlanta shows up!

What an opening paragraph. @edwardalden.bsky.social in @foreignpolicy.com foreignpolicy.com/2025/04/03/t...

NEWS: Whirlpool Corp. announces Iowa's largest layoff of 2025 in Amana manufacturing facility. Nearly 1/3 of the company’s workforce in the Iowa facility will be let go due to current market conditions.

Reading over the Grassley-Cantwell bill that would reestablish congressional control over tariffs. A few things leap out.

Not sure what's worse, the reporter asking a softball "do you want to weigh in on that" [Signalgate] or the reporter immediately moving onto another topic when Trump demands, like a little baby, that she doesn't "bring that up again". Our media is failing us. Again. zeteo.com/subscribe

Schwarzenegger winning seemed like the most embarrassing thing that would ever happen in politics at the time and now he’s to the left of every elected Republican and a few Democrats and just makes videos going “young men, my fadda was a Nazi and he was a contemptible loosah”

THIS!! I haven't heard any pundits talk about the fundamental problem that Americans expect super cheap goods but also quality control and worker protections here in the US. We've been conditioned to believe it is our right and an immutable fact. This is no longer possible (and it was never right).

Please ignore tired pieces in publications like the Atlantic that are still trying to stigmatize mask wearing. Wearing a mask to prevent sickness from airborne viruses is a science-informed position, and it has been that way for over 100 years.

THIS. THIS is what the internet was supposed to be about, not toxic disinfo and manosphere incel rapey shit.

Trump campaigned on *replacing* income tax with tariffs. He promised to replace income tax, abolish tax on tips and overtime, abolish tax on social security, and recently, to abolish *all* taxes on incomes under $150k. None of that happened. Instead, we have all those taxes AND massive tariffs.

He could’ve voted to terminate the emergency declaration yesterday.

30 years ago was 1995, and Wall Street was in the midst of overvaluing every tech company they saw causing the Dotcom Bubble. Almost 15 years after that they would single-handedly cause the Great Recession. The past 15 years have been comparatively crickets.

Your tariff rate is your star sign divided by the number of boys you've kissed, multiplied by one

BREAKING — Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) staffers who were put on admin leave on Monday just got letters letting them know they’re a part of a Reduction in Force (RIF) and that their job will be “abolished” effective May 4th in accordance with Trump’s EO, per copy reviewed by me.

NEW: The Pentagon Office of the Inspector General just announced it will investigate Pete Hegseth's role in the Signal group chat scandal.

BREAKING: Convoy organizers Tamara Lich and Chris Barber have been found GUILTY of mischief. #ottnews #cdnpoli

Truly we are about to have a renaissance of poverty and stupidity.

If we don't get a second New Deal out of this, complete with universal health care, UBI, NLRA reform, & massive investment in public education (including tertiary) & infrastructure, I'm going to be miffed.

Yup. The entire neoliberal system is built on an implicit bargain between labor and capital where the former gives up a big chunk of their power to the latter in exchange for consistent access to cheap consumer goods. We're about to see what happens when capital reneges...

"Thirty employees—including 11 lab heads—at the institute should immediately return to work." What the actual f... 😡😠

shalom harlow was my favorite model until she outed herself as an ottowa convoy supporter/anti-vaxxer

Always remember:

If we're fighting tooth and nail for food and shelter, then these 🤬 figure that We the People will be too weak and defeated to fight them. They really don't read. Instead of Rich Dad, Poor Dad, they should have been reading history. And a lot of it. This is not going to end well for them.

First attempt to draw up a list of airborne diseases. Any help in consolidating, correcting or completing this list is welcome.

god I hate being unemployed in this market

Bill Burr is a national treasure 🎯! "You journalists need to get your balls back"

I appreciate all of these detailed analysis of what’s wrong with the policy, but the crucial thing to keep in mind here is that Donald Trump sincerely, literally does not understand what a tariff is and when that is your starting point, nothing beyond it really matters.

People don't miss manufacturing jobs. They miss the effects of having 30+ percent union density. And we can build worker power again, with good policies, for the jobs most working class people actually have today rather than hoping mumbo jumbo will make it 1955 again.

NEW: This Saturday 100s of thousands of protesters across the country & the world are expected to take to the streets to express their outrage & disapproval of the Trump admin’s reckless disregard for the needs, values, safety, & wellbeing of average Americans, largely led by Musk & his team at DOGE

What this actually is is a disastrous consequence of the Supreme Court’s decision in INS v. Chadha, one of the worse decisions of the second half of the 20th century.

My schadenfreude for the day is that Bitcoin's down basically as much as the NASDAQ, and if Bitcoin did what its fans said it did it would be the opposite.

A big reason we're here is because voters will fall in love with a guy like Cory Booker over a performative political act, despite the fact he personally voted to confirm Trump's tariffs guy. The former was a show; the latter will have far-reaching, negative consequences for your life.

I hope his office doesn't have shatter-proof glass.

The firehouse is on!

NOAA forecasts show the polar vortex may have ended its season early. After a strong showing this winter, it was disrupted in early March and isn’t expected to recover, marking one of the earliest breakdowns of the stratospheric vortex in decades. Learn more: www.climate.gov/news-feature...

Two-thirds of both houses of Congress could undo this whenever they want by passing a bill over Trump's veto taking all power to set tariff rates away from him. Tariffs are set by law. The Constitution gives the president no power over tariffs--only our current laws do that.

The fact that some people loudly said they didn’t think Trump would actually do this is proof to me that those people chose to memory hole his entire first term and also everything they knew about him before it. He has always been this troll in a china shop

“But I never thought leopards would eat MY stock portfolio!”
