Really excited about our new venture with The Heritage Lab: please circulate to any scholars or institutions you think would be a good fit for this project, which looks specifically at South Asian art, history and culture. Please feel free to DM me any questions! wikimedia.org.uk/2025/02/heri...

I just finished Small Game by @blairbraverman.bsky.social and I loved it. It's perfect if you like survival shows, a smidge of Yellowjackets and a very human-centred kind of horror, the kind that creeps up on you and takes root in your brain, whispering 'what if?'

Abortion Support Network is looking for a volunteer to join the team that helps with booking travel and accommodation. 7 hours over a week, once every six weeks. V happy to chat about my experiences volunteering with ASN if anyone’s curious! www.asn.org.uk/volunteer/

Here's the speech if you haven't heard it. 13 minutes of your time. Share it with your American friends and neighbours, because they won't see it otherwise. Circulate it in Mexico and Denmark, France and the UK, Panama and Germany, Poland and Estonia, and especially -- especially -- Ukraine.

Back in 2023, RAMM adopted an #openaccess strategy for #publicdomain artworks. In Dec we launched an Open GLAM Toolkit with the #GLAM-E Lab, for use by any cultural orgs looking to develop their own access program and release collections for public reuse. rammuseum.org.uk/news/glam-e-...

This week my employer of 17 years English Heritage announced 200 jobs lost, and my Alma mater Cardiff Uni announced 400 jobs lost. The planning system that protects our heritage and provides thousands of archaeology jobs is at risk, and Higher Education is in free fall more generally #ThisIsFine

Mood for the next four years.

It's super cool to see people putting proposals in already, thank you so much & keep 'em coming!!!

The internet is not a neutral space—it reflects the structures, biases, and inequalities of our world. But what if it didn’t? What would a truly feminist internet look like? 🌐 It's more important than ever that we question the status quo! #art+feminism Read more: wikimedia.ie/2025/01/24/i...

a never ending month

There is a light ahead folks

Instead of just reading summaries on news sites, I highly recommend going through these executive orders and really absorbing the intent and language. It's fucked. www.whitehouse.gov/presidential...

There's a lot of good books released on Wikisource because the copyright has expired. Yesterday I read the first Hercule Poirot novel there.

I want to know the secret to Finnish porridge 🇫🇮 my research isn't going well so far...

I want to remind everyone that your local library is both physical AND digital. You hate streaming everything because the price is ridiculous? Library. You hate ads because they're every 3 mins or less? Library. You want to reduce your digital footprint? Library. You want sourced info? Library.

Really excited to see my favourite local indie bookshop here! 🌈🌟📚🏳️‍🌈 A nicer place you will not find.

The Indigenous Fire Ecology episode of Ologies is really worth a listen. Decolonisation is a climate issue.

I really valued my time @iashedinburgh.bsky.social and would encourage anyone to apply for these amazing opportunities. It felt like a safe space to create and explore ideas outside of the demands and anxieties of HE. Happy to chat to anyone thinking of applying.

The world's richest man has joined a growing chorus of right-wing voices attacking Wikipedia as part of an intensifying campaign against free and open access information. Why do they hate it so much?

2025 off to an Arctic start.

20% of English Wikipedia's biographies are about women! This is a huge milestone, but there's so much more work to be done on notable women who are more than qualified for their own Wikipedia biography. Thank you to all of the editors who are taking part in this work 🫶 #gendergap #wikipedia

Fantastic news! Congratulations Dr Fran Allfrey (Postdoctoral Research Associate, Dept of Archaeology) who has been named UK Wikimedian of the Year 🏆 Read more about Fran's work using wikidata as part of the Avebury Papers project 👇

True luxury is found in the simplest moments.

www.nigella.com/recipes/gues... P made this for dinner tonight and it was amazing 🔥 (we did use slightly less chilli crisp than suggested) 🌶️

You do not need to be an academic to visit an archive. You do not need a degree to visit an archive. There is no terrifying Don at the door grilling potential visitors. If it's your first time, a nice archivist will help you. It's our shared history, our preserved records. Go explore it.

Five shifts left at my festive bookseller job and I'm looking forward to a break, and a fresh start at Leeds in January, but I will be sad to leave the shop behind. Being around books just for the joy of it has been really healing, and getting out of the house in the darker months is revelatory.

My partner made this for our first friend group meet up after two friends welcomed their first kiddo, right at the end of lockdowns. Lots of lovely memories in this lasagne.
