(I definitely did not spend the last hour reading my own writing aloud, some of it in very hacked Norwegian and Scottish accents)

Oh cool, I didn’t realize how easily you can access a person’s feeds from their page! This is a really nice feature, I will look into it! Tysm for the info :)

Oh that’s so cool! Can people subscribe to individual feeds or is it just like a collection of posts of some sort?

It honestly baffles me that AI was not only released to the public, but integrated into everything under the sun while it's still so dangerous and unreliable

Yeah I wish it were discussed more! Although the fact that it is not very publicized is certainly intentional. If more people understood the full breadth of what’s going on, we would be in a much different place with AI right now

Yes extremely similar! Although like I said, I myself am overdue for some formal research to strengthen my own understanding of this massively convoluted topic :) Hoping I’ll get around to it soon! It’s about to be more important than ever to stay properly informed.

AI takes a lot of energy to process. So much energy that hosting areas need to use a water cooling system to keep the servers from getting too hot. This alone wastes so much water that could be used in other, more relevant areas of our lives

My initial distaste for it comes from an artist’s perspective, so I am right there with all that you’ve said! It’s awful. Honestly, I know a lot less about AI’s effects than I should (hoping to research when I have the time) but it has some major environmental impacts. Namely, water & energy usage

Found on tumblr, considering AI will tell you to drink piss and eat uranium I think it might be dangerous

I’m always eager to discuss the ramifications of AI usage whenever it’s brought up and it always surprises me how much of what I say is news to people.

Oh a LOOOT of my peers majorly use it as a crutch (four-year undergrad research university). Mostly STEM people as I’ve noticed, but I’m reluctant to entirely generalize. I have seen other English majors fall into the pit too.

Looks like there’s a way to save/archive past exchanges in ChatGPT? Not the kind of feature I would have expected but I guess that kind of informs the ask a bit more. Absolutely not something I would have considered

The in-class attendance assignment we had in my favorite class on Tuesday was to send a screenshot of a time we used ChatGPT. It was very disheartening to see a channel full of eager screenshots :( I’d choose to lose points before choosing to using AI any day

ooof yeah i get that struggle. might be good to get a second opinion from someone outside the project? i know that helped me take a step back and consider things from a different angle earlier today
