Finally heading home after a marathon day at @sfplanning.bsky.social, where I took the day off to join my fellow @sfyimby.bsky.social members in giving public comment to give them moral and political support for the proposal to make apartments legal in the bulk of San Francisco

Well folks, the NIMBYs and YIMBYs in San Francisco are battling once again. Shocker. Public comments are coming in HOT regarding Mayor Daniel Lurie’s administration's plan to rezone broad swaths of San Francisco to allow denser and taller buildings. So what are people so passionately arguing? (🧵)

Let’s go!!!

You may have heard there’s an informational hearing about San Francisco’s new rezoning map? We are here in Room 400 doing it live! And I’m sure people will say some absolutely bonkers things. Been a while since I’ve done one of these so please forgive me if I’m a lil rusty!

Cupertino is up to some (unfortunately) expected shenanigans to block new homes. So YIMBY Law has entered the chat. Twice. In a city with a median household income of over $230,000, we cannot uphold a standard of exclusion and exclusivity. Read YIMBY Law's press release: www.yimbylaw.org/press

If you really want abundance, you need to FIGHT FOR IT! @yimbyaction.bsky.social (via YIMBY Law) uses lawsuits to open the housing market by overcoming NIMBY resistance. The future ain't gonna build itself! www.yimbylaw.org/press/cupert...

Colorado, it's time to allow affordable homes on land owned by education and faith organizations! Sign our petition to show your support for HB25-1169 ✍️ actionnetwork.org/petitions/le...

The April meetup is on the calendar!—anyone interested in housing abundance for Asheville is welcome. Info + RSVP: buff.ly/QxmE1Or

Great to see HB25-1093 signed! Our @yimbydenver.bsky.social & YIMBY Fort Collins chapters supported this bill and and their members testified on its behalf. The bill prohibits urban localities from reducing residential density without compensating for those lost homes elsewhere in the locality 👏

We're co-hosting the Abundance Conference this fall! 🗓️ Save the date and let's strategize for housing abundance 🙌

All I got to say on the matter is captured in this neat mug I got from @yimbyaction.bsky.social

#YIMBYWin Our @abundanthousingil.bsky.social chapter recently endorsed Daniel Biss for Mayor of Evanston, IL. Our members got out and did some door-knocking and phone banking to support his campaign. 💪 Looks like their efforts paid off because Daniel Biss won the election on Tuesday night 🥳

This building? Banned in most U.S. cities. The TOP priority of city governments should be re-legalizing these buildings. It solves for: 💸 Affordability 🚶‍♀️ Walkability 🛍️ Local business 🤝 Community life It’s the Mixed-Use Multifamily Theory of Everything. #Zoning #Urbanism #YIMBY

Virginians are suffering under the status quo with their current housing policy. When our leaders have an opportunity to take action to help build more homes for their constituents, they HAVE to take it. Read our full statement ⚖️ yimbyaction.org/blog/virgini...

Ended my night last night with @yimbyaction.bsky.social’s Commonwealth Housing Coalition Happy Hour! I was proud to be named one of their legislative champions. Housing supply is one of the most important issues facing Virginia. We need to build to remain a prosperous and dynamic state

Big shoutout to @ashevilleforall.org chapter volunteer leader, Andy Paul, for co-authoring an amazing opinion piece about the need for more homes in Asheville. We must enact pro-housing policies that make our neighborhoods more affordable, sustainable, and equitable mountainx.com/opinion/ashe...
