I really f**king love Hong Kong, and Funassyi! Bluesky user #55,617 -- joined in May 2023! -- but am also "over there" too. Yes, I'm still straddling between Twitter and here (because there still are not enough Hongkongers and Funatomo here!).

What's your obscure or unbelievable musical fact? For the first few years of its music career, Funassyi was signed to Universal Music Japan. (BTW, your eyes do not deceive you -- the MV of its debut song, which got into Japan's top ten charts, has 4.2 million views (thus far)!)

this has "my wife is asian (some kind of chinese i think) so my opinion on esoteric cultural practices of a village in jeju island should be heeded over that of the jeju people) energy

Meanwhile, in Hong Kong, according to government mouthpiece Raditio Television Hong Kong (RTHK).😩

"China is the most important—perhaps decisive—enabler of Russia’s war machine." (Meanwhile, the American govt clings to a belief that Asia - Russia are separate theatres. Why? Why would they do that? ) www.economist.com/china/2025/0...

As the UK lurches into another 'Rivers of Blood' era, may as well re-up my (haha award-winning but with no resulting pubs because I was not masochistic enough to move into NZ academia) PhD thesis about their oddball approach to ethnic & racial categorisation, and how it fucks with everyone's heads.

I woke up a couple of morning ago thinking "Oh, it's cool again!", only to realise it was because I had the AC on. I look forward to the day later in the year when I wake up wondering "OMG, did I switch on the AC by mistake?" and it wondrously turns out to be cool air coming through the windows...🌬️

29.6 degrees: Today is the hottest day in Ireland since August 2022

I was wondering... as the skinks I'm more familiar with tend to look like this:

I went to a social gathering some years back at which Brigitte Lin was a surprise presence. She's my favourite actress of all time but I still never figured I'd literally break into a sweat upon seeing her. Friends ask, "Did you go up and talk to her?" No -- I was sweating too much for my comfort!

So touched seeing their happy and jubilant faces. It took 11 years for Sisters in Islam to get the justice they deserved...

Everyday is Yellow Day for Funassyi... 💛

Also, you'd think the humanities and social sciences would be affected by self-censorship and restriction of speech, thought, etc. But it seems the compilers of university league tables don't take that into account!

Enjoy more yellow (along with white, black and green) on Yellow Day!

Smile, giggle, laugh ...

For 26 years, #AppleDaily, the publication founded by #JimmyLai 30 years ago today, went where others feared to tread. Long live the spirit of Apple Daily. Long live #PressFreedom.

The national security law will only affect an extremely small minority of people... blah, blah, blah -- yeah, right!

Indubitably, inevitably, the last human will die. But it remains firmly our choice whether she shall die by the extinction of our line, or by the succession of whatever comes after.

It's bad enough that the British government did not extend full British nationality to Hongkongers the way that Portugal extended full Portuguese nationality to people born in Macau before December 20th, 1999!

I still am shocked whenever I encounter hikers who approach me to ask for directions -- or even for water!! -- who I find out do not have actual physical maps with them (as opposed to Google Maps, etc.)! I'm not the greatest fan of the Hong Kong government but the AFCD's countryside maps are great!

I just found out that there's a Yellow Day and... it makes me happy to know it exists! Also, of course I'm happy to contribute an image! (From 2014 -- seen at Occupy Admiralty, Hong Kong 🥲) www.telefonica.com/en/communica...

"Hong Kong is still facing threats from “soft resistance,” which may take the form of performance content, song lyrics, and storylines, said Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism Rosanna Law." If this doesn't make us a major events hub that everyone will want to come to, I don't know what will.

Hooray for The Chairman! (Which I've been to a number of times. Have (still) not been to Wing though...)

I think it speaks to the different Arsenal accounts I Follow (and others that Follow them) that there seems to be people upset at the news that Thomas Partey may be leaving Arsenal at the end of this month after all over on Twitter but crickets/nobody upset about this here on Bluesky that I can see!

Back in 2016, I went to a branch of Shimamura to look for Funassyi merch. Not only did I find a nice Funassyi t-shirt but before that, I was treated to posters of Funassyi in various parts of the store (including one with the image 👇) and the voice of the Pear (Fairy) hawking various products... 😂

Hong Kong's Ryan Choi Chun-yin defeated China's Mo Ziwei to secure his first career Asian Fencing Championships gold medal on Thursday. Yes, you read it right: Hong Kong has separate sports teams from (Mainland) China! Hong Kong, ga yau!!!
