There's a lot that would need to come together to make it a success, but it'd really be a amazing addition to the South Waterfront skyline (especially with @bradleybondy.com's proposed colossus astride Ross Island)

I take it that the two of you would prefer to retain the current system, then?

If you are curious about applying, please send me a message. I would love to buy you a cup of coffee or hop on a call and talk about what this role entails. As the saying goes, "Decisions are made by those who show up" - our system is only as good as the people who step up to serve.

If you live or work in the City of Portland and care about this issue, please consider applying. I won't lie to you - this is one of the hardest tasks this city ask its volunteers to do. It is also one of the most important.

I know nothing about what this will look like for the City of Portland, but they have a $100 million dollar shortfall, and Multnomah County's $21 million cuts are looking pretty grim, so...

Baselines got posted around midday; constraints were closer to EOD. It's... tough.

If we're being generous, at minimum ODFW is dramatically overestimating the number of people who own a printer.
Perhaps the three Sauvie Island retailers could pivot to charging people to use their printer?

I'd watch that! A recurring frustration I have with stress dreams is that my subconscious is a much better at coming up with pitches than I am awake.

I know roughly what my salary is, but I wouldn't guess at the exact number on the record, especially in a setting as rancorous as that.

MCAS is obligated to take any lost or stray animal, actually! (I assume that applies only to domestic animals, but they had a pheasant there yesterday, so I'm not sure where the cutoff is.)

This was supposed to say Christine DRAZAN, but that's a pretty funny autocorrect.

I thought about it, but the Parks report was just enough time to go home and turn on the livestream.

It was also a delight to finally see my dear friend and former CRC Chair @candaceavalos.bsky.social on dais.
And shoutout to the indefatigable @trryjhrrs.bsky.social for sitting through all 5+ hours of Council tonight; I finally headed home around Hour 4.

My appreciation to Community & Public Safety Committee Co-Chair @councilorkanal.bsky.social for his continued leadership on this issue.

I was mildly surprised that no one directly appealed to the "framer's intent" followed by an expectant look at Councilor Avalos.

*EO, not EA.

Not to be more of a pedant than I normally am, but wouldn't the phrasing "tie vote" preclude its usage for an emergency ordinance? (The same way that the US Vice President cannot cast a deciding vote on cloture?) If council is split 6-6 on an EA, it fails handily. If it's 8-4, it's not a tie.

I did manage to volunteer on all three levels of local government (city, county, regional) this year, which leaves me just one state appointment shy of an Oregon EGOT. (Perish the thought!)

I'm so sorry to hear that! Wishing them both a speedy recovery, and I hope you're taking care of yourself, as well.
