Again, not trying to yuck anybody’s yum. Just saying that on top of not logging onto Amazon today, it’s worth donating to strike funds or bail funds in your community and getting involved with established collective action

Still, it was a fun new way to revisit a I love. I -still- think quest 64 has some of my fave design foundations, and some of the pragmatic solves they had to get the game released are interesting. i see echoes of it's systems in something like the misunderstood breath of fire: dragon quarter!!

The glaring problem to me was huge spike points usually associated with enemies having access to one of the "new" spells (searing missile in Zelse's woods oh my god) which just are SO powerful you can nearly be killed by a single cast-- and they're undodgable, as well

Many enemies became HP walls, and ultimately increasing the length of fights doesn't feel harder, just... longer. I never felt the need to grind intentionally though, which was nice! The remixed item rules was good, as well

earth magic is still unbelievably the best option lol. my review of Quest 64: Hard Mode-- interesting! remixed spirit locations are fun. The new spells are neat, but unbelievably outclass the originals. Magic is just... generally weaker? Which feels contrary to the intentions of the hack

Things middle class ppl may not think of as valuable resources but that are: capacity with form completion, having a car, having a couch that's empty at night, having a full fridge, quickly understanding and summarizing information, knowing how to deal with banks/government agencies/managers

it's very jarring to hear all this talk at work or even among close friends and trying to carefully direct the conversation towards "well, we've got more in common with each other as workers and people" is surprisingly hard when people are getting jingo-y about "french's mustard" -.-

Canadians shouldn't be leaning into nationalism, because the Conservative party will sell that facade over a fascist playbook. We need class solidarity WITH Americans. They aren't our enemies, they are being subjugated by their leaders, they are victims too.
