I’ll add that Zionism does not mean support for Netanyahu or the Israeli government or any of its awful policies, and that Bibi and Co. have bastardized the term.

She’s not holding ADL responsible for Hamas. She’s holding Bibi and Trump responsible for delaying the hostage release, and is saying ADL is running cover for Trump and Bibi.

I don’t really care to argue this further, but it split from B’nai B’rith in 1913. It may be associated with Jews, but it’s certainly not religious, has traditionally (not now) sought to protect all civil rights, and been comprised of many non-Jews. Catholicism is a religion. Being Jewish isn’t.

This was before a couple years ago. It has reverted to just a Jewish org focused on college kids and Israel advocacy. But it hasn’t dropped its second mission from its website yet.

Perhaps it was that when it was founded, but it became much more than that. It became an org that monitors and combats extremism against all people, working with the FBI, filing amicus briefs, performing police bias trainings, etc. It had actually made a big effort to recruit non-Jews.

to stand against Nazism at the Pentagon is just silly.

Yair isn’t doing the best analysis here. Also, ADL is a civil rights org, not a Jewish org. It has two missions. It has myriad non-Jewish employees at all levels. It’s has many non-Jewish board members and has made efforts to recruit more. Insinuating that it’s antisemitic to ask a civil rights org

Is it victim blaming for a trans Jew (or any trans person, considering the org’s mission statement) to ask ADL about this? There are so many orgs that hug anti-LGBT members of Congress? Why focus on this one?

Is it fair for people to ask the ADL, who just platformed a purveyor of Great Replacement Theory, to respond to antisemitism?

The ADL and Jonathan Greenblatt tweet constantly about college campuses and Israel and Rashida Tlaib. We are talking about a Pentagon spokeswoman here. Yet, unless someone knows to read JTA or Pittsburgh Jewish Chronicle, they’d never find that statement and still don’t know who it’s from.

I’ll be more specific. I see it in the article from an anonymous representative. I googled the statement and cannot find it. Where can people see the response?

It is perfectly fair to ask whether an org that claims to be the chief antisemitism watchdog, and yet has hugged Elon Musk, Nancy Mace, and Elise Stefanik, responded to overt antisemitism. I don’t see where ADL responded to this latest tweet.
