There has to be someone on bluesky that can help me get a goddamn job I have a good resume and a lot of experience and also will do totally new things. I'm 3k applications deep and just want to eat food and not get evicted, I'm not picky

Actually, this guy is my undergrad roomie. Get in touch with him and tell him Rich from Minnesota knows you. I'll vouch for you, too. Not sure what he can offer directly, but it might be good for networking at least
I've also been looking for a year now. I'm also in Seattle. It's rough. Unfortunately, I can't help other than to offer some sympathy and empathy, and let you know that you're not alone in the struggle. Good luck, fellow traveler.
Hey, you're a fellow writer by trade, right? My employer just posted a couple things that are remote-friendly, if you see something that might be a fit, send me a DM and I'm happy to talk to you about it:
I'm right there with you. I unfortunately have to be picky about one thing, I have to work remotely as I take care of an elder parent at home so can't go to an office and leave her alone, but its been a long time, I need a job.
"Uh… same reason as you; they're willing to provide money for my time, which I can use to purchase the goods and services I need to eat and sleep indoors."
I don’t know what line of work you’re in, but my company has an opening for Sharepoint Administrator that’s remote. If you apply I can put in an internal reference.
Do you have a CDL? If not, get one. Drivers are always in demand, and while you might not make big money, you'll always have a viable skill to fall back on.
Yeah, I'm literally in the same boat. Laid off two years ago here near Seattle and... nothing, just ghost jobs, resume tossed into black hole pits, it's... awful, it makes no sense.
'Nobody wants to work anymore' -- bullshit, nobody wants to HIRE anymore.
3k applications is no small feat, really sorry you’re going through this. Sometimes even a strong resume can get overlooked if it’s not aligned with current ATS and market standards. I offer free resume reviews if you’d like a fresh pair of eyes. Happy to help however I can.
I do marketing, writing, web development, proposals like SOQs and RFPS, value pops, marketing, branding, graphic design, web building, social media, videography (writing/directing/editing/producing/post-pro), layout design, etc.
If it makes you feel better, I suspect most of his resumes got thrown out due to his formatting not necessarily being ATS friendly and his portfolio not being mobile friendly. He might also be frequently considered overqualified. Sometimes little tweaks make big differences
I work at Edelman and Assembly (a holding company of Edelman), have you checked on the latest openings? I am not a recruiter, but I want people to have work.
Not a bad portfolio but it has jack of all trades, master of none vibes. As someone who works in similar fields I had to focus and specialize and things got a lot easier.
Best of luck brother, I know how tough it is out there.
Like, ig it's my fault I've only gotten the jobs I have. Also, the complete phrase, "a jack of all trades is a master of none, but often better than a master of one" suggests that while a jack of all trades may not be an expert in any single field, their broader skills can be more adaptable/valuable
This is a very salient point, good sir. Also that having been through a rough time of it, doesn’t mean others automatically must suffer the same. Hurtful advice intending brash criticism in the face of another person’s pain helps no one, gains you nothing, and just makes you look like a dick.
Look—I don’t need excuses and I don’t care about an algorithm. I get we all say dumb ass shit sometimes. If you read your own comment back and have an actual human soul, you can admit it sounds like assholishness. Have some grace to admit it and try to change the behaviour moving forward.
I've made commercials, I have named buildings, I have written legal briefs, I have made live action shows, I have designed pitch decks and proposals and marketing materials, I have done every kind of writing and storytelling there is, my resume rocks and I can do anything, I just need a human hookup
If any of these job titles sound like they could up your alley, I'll give you the link to the career site and would be happy to refer you if it will help.

Wait, are you a lawyer or paralegal? If you're based in or want to live in NYC, I work at the Legal Aid Society and we always have many job openings, plus we're unionised. Happy to put in a good word!
These are the current listings for the company I work for, I haven’t specified them because I don’t want them to find me on here… but it is a decent company and remote work is absolutely possible.
idk what your salary requirements are, but our cost of living is probably lower than wherever you’re located (I can’t remember if you’ve even said where you are?).
If you decide to apply you can use me as a referral, I’ll split the bonus with you.
I am completely out of money and my credit cards are all maxed and I can't even pay the minimums and I don't have money for internet let alone rent like holy shit. I'm applying for jobs at 20% of the pay I used to make.

For every resume you send, change up some words (esp. if you have a summary at the start) to match words in the job posting.
Resumes are scanned and the ones that don't have a high word match are often rejected before a human pair of eyes sees them....

(I'm employed, but they made me go back to the office last year. I've been looking for remote work ever since.)

FFS, dude. Think before you type 🤦🏼♀️
Besides, as a multidisciplinary artist, I know you like one of those skills more than the others.

I don’t know if you’d be able to relocate to SF but I could refer you directly to the hiring mgr for this.
- 100% remote work? Or local to Seattle, WA?
- What’s your desired salary range?
Feel free to DM.
...maybe somewhere in Portland? 😉
