Given the online hate other businesses face for having a visit from the mayor, can't blame em. I'd be curious if they actually support the cul de sac / mall plan the Council wants, or just don't want to be associated with Frey.
Was under the impression no business owners had endorsed cul de sac.
Bro, you are the Richfield Ward 2 city council member. I'd rather hear your opinions on something relevant to that like the Burger King at the Hub shopping center
Hey Sean. I am a Richfield resident. I lived in Mpls for 6 yrs before moving to Richfield as a homeowner. I have stood not two feet in front of you at the our Community Center giving feedback on street redesigns. So I hope my words have more weight when I ask: please stop embarassing yourself online
Would be happy to talk with you any time about why I share these concerns, and hear your opinion on better ways to talk about regional issues as an elected. 612-605-8837
Can I ask what that has to do with anything? Genuinely, like, I too am able to buy things from a location. I bought a used Polaroid in Coon Rapids that I use all the time. I don't try and advocate policy in Coon Rapids because of it. You know?
This seems like a genuine question so, sure. I'm sure you also buy many things from outside your ward or city. I think it would be perfectly normal to speak up for a business or business district you care about.
Voting is rightfully tied to residency. Skeeting a take or asking a question isn't.
Non-residents weigh in on matters all the time - like the vast majority of political money in Minneapolis comes from non-residents. As a council member in Richfield, of course I hear from non-resident road users, business owners, etc.
It’s such a mystery how he bought a table at 38th and Chicago when the coffee shop isn’t accessible… how the hell did he roll up & find the parking to load a table? Maybe he meant he got it foraging the alleys
I am in Japan right now and have spent thousands of dollars with businesses here, but I don’t expect to have a say in the National Diet’s choice for Prime Minister.
@sdho.org , why would you say you’re like this exactly? What is your investment in Minneapolis politics, and why is it so… this?
P.S. the Richfield Burger King has a great indoor play place—probably the best publicly accessible playground in Richfield. A+, well done, appreciate your work.
Nope. I've found it really difficult to access businesses there since the closure. Prior to going out of business, I liked Covet Consign. I also went to SA and Cup since my brother lived a half block away. Still a fan of Jakeeno's.
Anyway does Bichota advocate for the cul de sac / mall plan?
"I've found it really difficult to access businesses there since the closure. "
Please be fucking serious, Sean. This is some of your worst "white suburbanite who pretends to frequent the city but is scared of how 'urban' it's become" yet. The intersection has been open for years now.
Oh, in what way was it difficult to access businesses there? I went to a weekly community singing workshop at GFS this winter. I am mobility impaired and never had an issue finding a parking spot close to the door of the building I went to, even with the snow.
My impression that no business owners supported it was based on the extensive KARE11 debate between Frey and Chavez. Frey made that assertion, but Chavez never claimed otherwise. If businesses actually want the closure, I'd like to know.
Bichota also has an excellent subscription service for their house-roasted coffee for people who are interested in supporting businesses in GFS but not able to stop by in person.
I do f get the “really difficult to access businesses” line. I have found street parking readily available. Can I park right in front of where I want to go? No. But easy walk as expected in a busy urban area.
Not sure why you’re having problems. The streets & intersection is open & there’s almost always parking. Bus stops nearby. Very accessible by bike, still. Anyway, I’d stop in & talk to them before speculating that their actions are motivated by fear, or moving goalposts.
I was not intending to speculate they were "motivated by fear" - simply as a Frey supporter, I bear no ill will toward the denunciation. I just don't know what it means re: closure position. I'm gathering others don't know that either.

Meanwhile, I enjoy the breakfast table I purchased at 38th & Chicago every day in my Richfield home.

When is the last time you went?
Monday nights, a brass band plays at the old speedway. They have two community meetings every single day there for neighbors. It's great.
Perhaps...go try?
Jakeenos is outside the square and has its own lot and street parking. They also deliver.
The city surveyed residents, but only included options they wanted. No write ins.
