doing cutesy hypotheticals around the electoral effects of invading and annexing an entire country is everything that's wrong with the New York Times, elite media in this country, and you in particular
total inability to consider the horror of what's being proposed, fuck off with this shit

Canada as the 51st state? Trump thinks it would be a boon to his legacy. But it would also be a boon to Democrats, who would gain a lot more voters. www.nytimes.com/2025/02/17/u...

Sorry, we have our own culture and way of doing things.
We don't do the melting pot up here.
NYT & the rest of MSM aren’t writing to readers like us. They obviously have a different audience in mind.
MSM has failed the American people and this country.
It doesn’t know its audience.
But if the article portrays the plan in glowing tones for Democrats, THAT will give MAGAts pause.
it isn't journalism . its propaganda.
like yeah he's not gonna let canadians vote. he doesn't even want americans to vote. america's a monarchy now.
The US would need to invade Canada and kill thousands of people to forcibly occupy the Canadian land –– because Canada rejects all discussion of US rule.
JFC media. STOP!

"Canada, WTF?"
"Well where else are we going to go? Tau Ceti?"
People humoring this as serious are beyond contempt and deserve all they get.
I don’t even have to read the article. The guy doesn’t understand that being supposedly Democrat-leaning is irrelevant as we wouldn’t have the vote anyway, we’d be little better than occupied territory
It's not like Cuba was some peaceful paradise, the Cubans had been in active rebellion against their Spanish overlords for 3 years by that point in a conflict that killed 10% of the Island's total population.
NYT had a massive hand in creating this situation & I will never forgive the people in charge there
Like: fine, but do we need writers at The New York Times who can't connect the dots?
*of course I mean the blurb - I'm not paying to read the article
Has NYT run any hurt feelings articles yet about us booing the Star Spangled Banner during Four Nations?
