Well, great. The touch screen on my iPad, which is maybe 6 months old, just stopped working yesterday. Didn't drop it, didn't get it dirty... just suddenly unresponsive. Brought it to the Apple store. They tried the same thing I did (force restart), and nada. Needs replacement. All data lost. 😓 - ThreadSky

Ugh, that sucks. I'm always afraid I'll lose the data on my iPad (I use it for making art), so I paid for Apple's cloud storage and have it auto-backup every night... but it's pricey and not super necessary if you're not using it to create work.

Can you keep the non-functional ipad? I had similar symptoms with one of the kids’ iPad, paid a third party repair shop to change the screen and then it worked again. Obviously depends on the underlying issue but might be worth a shot to get at the data, if it doesn’t cost you the replacement

Can’t mouse control it, so you can at least make an iCloud backup? I think you can force mouse controls if connecting by USB or Lightning port.

In my country I'm pretty sure the warranty has to cover the first two years and that is totally something out of your control that they should either try to repair or give you a new one. But then again, it's Apple

Some tablets let you plug in a monitor or TV with a keyboard and/or mouse, maybe not all is lost!

I dont know a lot about apple products but did you have a cloud, dropbox, or onedrive? It may have back it up (if set up) your files.

Evidently not! That confused me, too. One reboot attempt and it was "oh well, if you haven't saved everything on the iCloud it's all gone now". 🫠
