I'm so jealous. I wanted to learn the Harp and looked into it 2 decades ago. There was no place to rent one in Maryland. And to buy one, they cost on average $80,000! I can't believe how expensive they were. So obviously I didn't pursue it. I love the sound of them.

One other thing to consider. I started with music at 4. I did half a degree in voice but never finished. I also play a little on the kantele, guitar, piano, am fine on the tin whistle still sing am 44. So i bought the harp after 30 plus years of serious music study.

Lady Orla, was purchased used. She is a good sound full sized instrument. She is NOT a concert harp. Neither is the harp this man is playing. Bought her about 6 years ago. $1000. I am sure they cost more now even used. But your pricing is for a concert harp. One like this would not cost that much.

I believe this musician is an angel. And I think angels exist in many forms and places, even as hobos on the F train. I frequently rode the F train late at night by myself in the 80's, and I believe I owe my life to an angel on the F train.

There are a lot of festivals to time your visit. We like the Vision Festival which happens in the heat of summer - not the easiest time to be in NY, but it's a great (mostly jazz) art festival.

If you've ridden public transit in the US, you won't have any issues.

NYC is one of the safest cities in America and it's subways are above average for US public transportation. I feel much safer in NYC subways as a tourist than Minneapolis light rail as a local.

That is certainly one way to look at it. Or, treat it like many do on the subway when there are people talking loudly or singing, babies crying, or doing any number of things on the subway. Learn to tune them out with Meditation, earbuds, etc. Or help soothe the baby, record the music, etc.🤷‍♀️.

Went to AA mtg w/ a relative. A southern woman (TX?) spoke about when she got too stressed & weak she always had her harp hour to help. Said she depended on harp hour every day. Hmm, harp music can be calming, relaxing & helpful in finding serenity. Later I found she was saying "higher power"!
