i just always think about his opposition to efforts to improve racial diversity at a selective high school under the theory that the students who would benefit would not really appreciate it because they didn’t get in the right way, unlike his children

The worse truth is that Haidt isn’t a dimwit at all. He’s playing the fool on purpose to advance a fascist cause. Look at his early scholarship on moral intuition and compare it to the nonsense he’s pushing now.

It kills me how much time I spend googling my own talking points when I give a lecture so I don’t say something inaccurate and guys like Haidt and Brooks and Chait just shit out their feelings in a book and they’re celebrated as intellectuals.

He was once on a podcast I was listening to. When he started in on the “it’s all because we don’t go to enough church” (paraphrasing), I turned him off. Any interest I had in the book was erased in that moment.
