I am curious about what Canadians think of Justin Trudeau's time as Prime Minister?
Obviously, the USA is currently screwed so I'm not judging. I see a lot of right wing discontent with Trudeau but I don't know if that's the consensus overal.
Canucks, how do you feel about his time?

Started with legalizing cannabis, did a sensible job with Covid, mostly just common sense stuff like that.
The billionaire sociopath owned media has devoted massive energy and time to demonizing him of course and that has an effect on his current electability, so I'm glad it's Carney now.
I’m confident that Carney can course correct, the direction Canada has been going in, and standing up to Trump.
He just isn't Canadian ... so you're safe from that one.
I'm sure his heart was in the right place, and he represented Canada very well on the world stage.
But I'm feeling better if Mark Carney takes the helm.
Sounds like someone who would be vulnerable to a fit of the vapors if a real insult happened.
I didn't really expect the electoral reform, or major movements on progressive issues, but the liberals continue to be a very safe central party, with all the things that means
The nightmare down south plus Trudeau's successor being an outside person means I think it's likely we vote in a government this time.
But he kept making unforced errors that benefited lobbyists and kept giving ammunition to the Conservatives.
He was pushed out of party for good reason, I think.
Just not a thought in his head. Allowed absolutely huge numbers of student visas to the point it was causing some real issues in housing and the job market, then slashed them overnight. Now lots of universities are doomed.
His initial COVID stance was good, but then he got attacked by right-wing media and gave up.
But he was in power long enough, regardless.
And not only that....he was found to be in violation TWICE!
What's that tell ya....lol
Other than legalizing weed, I can't think of anything else significant he accomplished or said - he just kept the status quo.
I have voted NDP in almost every election where I was not voting strategically.
Ineffective at broadening his party's support outside eastern Canada.
His biggest failing was 100% not bringing in the electoral reform that he promised.
The problem was that he was his father's son, and that made it easy for a movement to turn him into a convenient boogeyman for everything "wrong" with the country.
Most of it was related to scandals mixing family involvement & funds, & then a lot of millennials, he didn’t deal w/ housing affordability & implemented no electoral reform as promised.
Had too many scandals mid term
Lost focus near the end
Dealt well with COVID, although could have been stronger on it.
All in all, he'll go down as a mediocre PM. Not great, but far from terrible.
hoping Carney can carve a clear path, create a one Canada, break down internal trade barriers and help canadians do more for less
I always feel lucky to have a third party that, even if NDP nevers wins, often gets enough seats to affect policy for the benefit of the underdog
Glad they took Trudeau out even if I don't vote Liberal
He had the misfortune of being in power during COVID, which earned him a ton of animosity for mostly silly reasons.
Was it time for him to go? Almost certainly.
Did he really earn all the F Trudeau bumper stickers, no. That was mostly propaganda and misplaced anger.
Arranging a joint mission to the sun sounds nice though!
I think he was who we needed at the time, but his time to step down was definitely coming. I’m optimistic that Carney will do well.
He did a good job. The worst is, all the prominent negative issues were of his own making. And he paid dearly for that. I do think we're in a better place now than when he came into power.
Justin was trying to live up to his father’s legacy as Prime Minister.
The current electoral climate in Canada, and the carbon tax, and housing and grocery costs in Canada didn’t allow for that.
That last name certainly had a lot of cache.
At his worst, he was someone who talked a good game but never did anything.
He was always miles ahead of the Conservative candidate of the day.
I'll probably miss him.
Breaking his promise of election reform is why CPC has a chance.
But yeah. I read some Opinion pieces about how FPTP would remain better than PR because people aren't actually happier with PR.
One of the articles linked shared a lot of cynicism about the survey (no actual referendum done).
Cynics suggest that PR was never really desired... (cont)
I love telling the banapants conservatives what would happen to them and their "F*ck Trudeau" flags if Canada was actually the communist dictatorship they pretend it is.
I eventually snapped on the one I was friends with and pointed out that his issues with "LPC telling Canadians to hate themselves because of our history" was a him problem, since I don't feel great shame by it and unfriended.
He was very good during covid as face & leader...
Improvements to the Canada Pension Plan were/are really good. Without the changes, there would be a future poverty problem for seniors. (A Liberal prov premier got this ball rolling, tho)
Created child benefit. People poop on this as a bribe, but that's nuts. It works really well as an anti-poverty measure. Was an A+ move.
The pipeline purchase is a hot mess.
That said, for someone born in extreme privilege he should have been more self aware. He's not Trump corrupt, but he was plainly for sale and didn't hide it well.
That's everywhere globally
Should have arrested trump, Netanyahu
Should send troops to Ukraine and Palestine
Should have recognized Palestine
Should have change way we vote
Even the LIEberals where not behing or following him anymore
He did a Good Job, suffered RARE and GLOBAL event no one was prepared for and did his best with what CONS and BLOC in minority gov allowed him to have
No war
No sucessful Coup on his watch
bit of NAZI uprising
He got absolutely lambasted by foreign and foreign-owned media which posioned so many CAD minds
He was certainly better than alternatives during his tenure (Herr Harper, Weak Andy, Erin the Tool, & PP)
The only thing thar sticks in my mind was the team-up he had with Alpha Flight that Chip Zdarsky wrote in an issue of Civil War II: Choosing Sides.
Shook his hand once though and I do respect him as our PM.
That was a major feat in itself.
