I remember the clips after 5:46. Got real excited for a new ass-kicking babyface, and then he never appeared again. I assume the earlier clips never made TV because they decided to retool the gimmick/costume. I used to wonder why the internet called him Furface, and now I know why.
I dunno why he's wrestling
He's straight from Parts Unknown
I guess he's got his reasons
But the crowd don't wanna know
Cuz for forty odd years
We've been wondering
Who is Furface?
(Furface?! Who the fuck is Furface?!)
Brings back memories of going to after parties at Rosa's Pizzeria after ROH Wrestling shows in Chicago Ridge where at the karaoke machine Mark Briscoe would be singing "Next Door To Alice" and Jay would lead the charge with "ALICE? WHO THE FUCK IS ALICE??"
The dark match versions of the quickly-dropped, masked Beefcake comeback gimmick just before WM7 in 1991. The Dark Match Version somehow one of the worst looking things ever, Ninja Turtle & Yetti bad.
The description in the video says "One thing’s for sure: This guy could have used a barber." so makes me 100% think this is a previously unknown Ed Leslie gimmick
Fans on the internet have known it was Ed Leslie for decades. As a kid in 1991 I suspected it was him (because I figured he was due to return from the parasailing accident), but I wasn't sure. Then they dropped the gimmick and he did the Barber Shop instead.
to echo the sentiment of just about everyone: I've been watching wrestling for getting close to 40 years now, and I have absolutely no memory of this gimmick whatsoever.
It's Ed Leslie. The version from the end of the video is rare enough, but I'd never seen that... I'm gonna say skunk?... version of the gimmick. Man, I love WWE Vault.
