What keyboard shortcut do you think more people should know about?
I'll start: CTRL + SHIFT + T to re-open the browser tab you just closed

I did get a #MacBook for home use recently and, though learning keyboard shortcuts all over again sucks, they advertise them better…like Windows used to before designers hid accelerators. Maybe it’s time to bring ‘em back?
WIN+R to run things is essential
WIN+PAUSE/BREAK for settings/about page
Special shoutout to Greenshot for pimping out the PRINT SCREEN key with an MS paint shortcut and Imgur rehoster
I had no interest in using the snipping tool before I started working remotely, but now I use it all the time.
Windows + D to minimize all windows/bring them back
Ctrl + Tab to switch between browser tabs
Win+Arrows - Move active window (maximise, un-maximise, minimise, and move to left/right side of screen).
And the "fun" one, Win+Alt+Control+Shift+L... LinkedIn
Or you just have a nose for coworkers that like to change your background when you aren't there.
In windows renames files, vscode renames variables, chrome focus to URL (if i recall correctly)
CTRL + E or CTRL + K will let you start writing in your address bar
Used these in front of people and they said the way i use a browser is unhinged
Plain old copy/paste. I find it faster by a lot than using the mouse
Alt + 21 = §
Alt + 20 = ¶
Plus my Boss Key of course
CTRL + SHIFT + P for opening a private browsing window.
I'm not sure what I can offer in return, though. Other than of course you can CTRL + w (close tab) and CTRL + SHIFT + T for continuous exercise, maybe?
Remove Hyperlinks in a word document
history of your clipboard = paste multiple copied info
Also if you type in cmd in the address bar in a folder it opens it at that address.

On Mac, cmd + shift + 4 allows you to capture a selection of the screen.
Task Manager
Windows Snipping tool is just pretty godlike for getting those screenies
They keep adding goodies to #PowerToys
Ta!
Copy a link to clipboard.
Select the text in a Teams post that you want to hyperlink.
Paste the link. It will hyperlink the text. No CTRL + K required.
It has been in Loop for a while now too.
That shortcut also works in a lot of other apps. VSCode will open the previously closed file, Warp will open the previous terminal session and so on :)
I'll copy three or four different things at once, and then go to the destination and paste each one after the other. SO much more efficient!
It's one of Windows 10's best new features. And the enhancements in Windows 11 make it even better.
You can even "pin" individual items on the clipboard so that they persist through reboots, and copy on one PC, paste on another.
It's SUPER useful.
I swear, I wish I could remember that one. I need it a lot.
a) inconsistency in keyboard shortcuts (with evil side eye towards Apple - Cmd key not the Ctrl Key); and
b) HUGE assumption that people even realize they can use their keyboard to control a GUI program. That's like some 70s/80s/90s stuff the mouse-centric eschew.
My most used?
Windows Key + left or right cursor arrow to snap a window to half the screen
I wish default "Switch apps" three finger swipe would visually match the desktop switching, it would be much easier to switch between apps without requiring multiple workspaces, as that messes up taskbar
There's no way to do that for workspaces. So If I click Visual Studio on the taskbar on the wrong workspace it just launches a new instance and there's no way to change that :(
Come on people! It's built into windows now! :)
Ctrl+{} to go left and right between tabs.
windows shift s gives you a adjustable cropping screenshot tool
alt 21 in a text box gives you the symbol for money from the Sims
i meant to say task manager
for mouse pointer crosshairs.
it's made the past few days of spreadsheet stuff sooooo much easier, and less rage filled
theres a few other screenshot ones that are also really useful that i currently forget
- F2 to edit the filename (i.e., rename),
- TAB to move to the next file and edit its name,
- SHIFT+TAB to move to the previous file and edit its name
Ctrl + r(everse search)
Removing formatting, hyperlinks etc when moving text around is super helpful. I’ll often still have a notepad session as well in the middle for other purposes, but the shortcut is still super valuable.
Ctrl+Alt+ESC to open the Tasks manager. Bonus tip: keep the Ctrl key down to prevent the Tasks to move.
Windows+V opens your Ctrl+C history -- super useful. 😉
WIN + SHIFT + S for full or partial screenshots.
WIN + L to Lock.
F5 in notepad to inset date and time.
Minimize (and unminimize) all your windows
Came across someone recently who I would have assumed was fairly computer-literate who didn't know about them.
Alt + F4 closes the document without closing the program. I don't know why they got rid of the x to close the document in Word, so the only x closes the whole program.
Capture screen or part of screen, and immediately post into almost any app that accepts pasting of images.
