Oh definitely. It’s a very hyped space at the moment. Every tech executive is currently getting the pitch “We *need* to build an MCP service for our product right now or we’ll be left behind”

Oh, sure. I’m actually pretty pro-MCP myself. I’ve been hacking on it a good bit recently. I think it is useful. I was more specifically thinking about the notion that it will be a panacea for getting systems to interoperate. I think humans still need to be in the loop.

I think I’ve come around to “MCP is likely going to be an important standard” just due to ecosystem effects and that exposing tools to LLMs could be a step change in their usefulness

But like 99% of the value so far is RPC + schema discovery

“Pushing out breaking changes is easier in some ways when your client is an LLM” is an interesting takeaway imo, but also if you change the documentation for a tool it might completely break for your users in unexpected ways, and testing this is going to be challenging 😱
