Lots of people still don't know about this feature! It's very, very good. Reduces dunks and pile-ons, and hey, even just people being annoying or missing the point when they quote.

Every post now has the ability to “detach” quote posts.
Quote posts are great but sometimes they’re used to dunk on people. This tool gives you a quick way to remove your post from the quote, reducing the unwanted attention that a quote might bring.

There'll be a little button at the bottom of the posting window that opens up a menu that lets you preemptively disable quote posts.

The view of social media, especially the other place, being a town square was never accurate in the first place.
In a town square you get to walk away and have the right not to be followed home and harassed!
Generally better - and enough - just to block those that need blocking as they arise.
I've already found myself blocked at total random by moots of moots who I've never interacted with, and no clue why.
Blockers aren't hard to make (not that I could!).
It turns a discussion/debate platform into just a publishing platform.
