#r4today really is a funny place, isn’t it?
“But do the people really want upgraded public transport, though?” They ask🤨
The only question they can come up with about improvements to Manchester’s transport services. Go on, say what you really mean, Nick, “aren’t buses woke?”

My husband works a few miles away - it’s cheaper/reliable to drive & park than get the bus
Pretty pathetic really but par for the course with Nick Robinson I’d say.
And then the predictable bleating for yet another enquiry into child grooming. No one has implemented the recommendations from the enquiries we’ve already had yet !!
how the heck do these people think london would function at all without tfl?
take it away and the entire uk economy collapses

It’s a mix of superficial political tittle-tattle and a completely misguided choice of what news really matters.

Thankfully I missed the item.
Robinson speaking for the car lobby, it seems. They still need cutting down to size: bus regulation is but one step on the way.

Yes Nick, yes we do.
They are a necessity as a public service for many in society, for school, for work, for shopping, for visiting family, for holidays
Etc.
Increasingly important in the ongoing #CostofLivingCrisis
Inexplicable Cornflake Tenure.
'no one knows who's job it is to enforce the rules' Eh, that would be the police.
My mornings are much more calm since I introduced a ban on #bbcradio4Tory

We know majority of working people/commuters; families; people aiming for more sustainable lifestyles all want upgraded public transport.
Perhaps #r4today core listeners (older, wealthier; middle class) less so? So out of touch - tragic from a national broadcaster.
Reliable and affordable public transport will do more for the economic situation than almost anything else.
Our politicians and media need to wake up.
