More than half of people who voted Labour in July say they are considering switching to the Lib Dems or the Greens at the next general election, according to new @thinksinsight.bsky.social shared with PolHome

These voters appear easier to win back than those considering Reform, the poll found

Ah, but according to the strategy geniuses at no 10, those disgruntled voters on the left have no alternatives to vote for so will just vote Labour anyway. It’s astonishing that the only party they noticed at the last election was the one that got 5 seats not the one that got over 70

As a Labour voter for 50+ years, it was obvious before the last GE what Labour under Starmer had become. I voted Green, as there was no other left candidate in my ward. I will never vote Labour again, and I would recommend all ex-Labour to vote Green until there is a viable Socialist alternative.

The YouGov political favourability ratings headline seems to imply that Labour is losing support while Reform is gaining, whereas the Politics Home story suggests that they're losing voters to the left. I wish the full Thinks Insight data was available as it might give Starmer pause for thought.

I don't know what figures you're looking at but every one I've seen since the local elections shows Labour losing more voters to the LDs/Greens than to Reform

Well I am a member of the Labour Party and I can't remember a period when I haven't *considered* voting LD or Green occasionally. Doesn't mean I have. I have, but that's not the point ;)

I lent my vote to Labour as the Lib Dem’s can’t win where I live. No idea what I’d do next time as the only likely options are Reform or Conservative (tbf the current Conservative MP is excellent on local issues). I might end up voting tactically to block reform.

I still find their strategy absolutely baffling. People voted less than a year ago for a party that was known for improving public services. If their top priority was lower taxes/immigration they wouldn't have voted Labour. Do they think voters have had a complete change so quickly?

Being a Labour voter feels like being in an abusive relationship. I'm not saying that flippantly. I'm talking from experience. Being treated like shit on the assumption that you'll just keep taking it is exactly what's going on here. Spoiler alert. People leave quicker than you'd think.

In polling the Liberal and Green vote share hasn't increased much from the election last year. What seems to have happened is a Labour/Tory collapse and a Reform surge

This doesn't really match the Labour vote is collapsing because people are switching to the Greens and Lib Dems

Not including smaller parties and I'm not a statistician (it doesn't add up to zero) but I see no major move to the LDs and Greens

Clearly you are not a Labour adviser because if you were you would see it is obvious that apeing Reform is going to bring potential Green / Lib Dem switchers (and many Plaid switchers in Wales) back into the fold...
