It’s because of the senate map

@lauren-egan.bsky.social @lakshya.splitticket.org Wondering why there's so much ink spilled on how and why Democrats should moderate but when Republicans were in the minority post-2020, there was little (no?) such writing about the GOP. Is the GOP free from the need to moderate? Why?

(Sure the EC and state borders do gerrymander those elections in a sense, but not in the true meaning of the term: districts resembling fractals)
B. The right has no interest in governing, so extreme political obstruction is almost always a viable political strategy.
a) too far left
b) too far right
c) massive direct mail operation accusing her of corruption
d) when in doubt, pick c
They keep trying to tweak their issue positions and messaging, while voters keep screaming "I don't know what your deal is but I definitely don't trust you."
First, call it "plutocracy"

Demonstrably false take. All evidence to the contrary of this overtly incorrect take.

He quite literally said the opposite
Perhaps pivoting to boldly saying "leave ALL people the fuck alone, government" would work better.
Abigail Spanberger is running for Governor in VA and swearing up and down that she’s for Right to Work (for less).
Dems are the faculty senate member who insists everyone needs to be heard, when they need to be more “this is the plan”
Any D that can win these seats is gonna look a lot more like Tester or Manchin than AOC or Bernie.
Want a paper straw?
It is highly possible
Tester losing is *really* depressing because he was an insanely good candidate against a truly horrible one, and he still lost and it was not even close.
Even when Dems behave conservatively, the right still *successfully paints them as "the radical left".
Dems had to rely on Manchin + GA electing *2 Dems just to eek out the slimmest of margins. Not exactly sustainable.
The other viable seats aren't exactly progressive havens.
I'm just frustrated.
The Dem coalition needs to get younger and stronger…Boomer votes are no longer the path Joel.
& the campaigns are different as well. Manchin sure but Sinema ran to left of how she governed.
This happens a lot a candidate runs on progressive popular polices & moves to the “middle” once they get elected & are suddenly less popular
When I’m talking about here goes way beyond the usual chatter about “Dem messaging.”

The left needs to focus on addressing the critical real-world problems of families & individuals who are struggling. Abandon th snooty virtue-signaling but keep the ethics.
More conservative voters means we will need to run moderate candidates
Democrats are terrible at demonstrating results—especially during their terms.
Too much happens after the fact.
