You need to take minutes off Kai, the way to think maybe is to see would you rather have him finish the game or be taken off say 70 odd minutes in. Solution mostly has to be Sterling. But maybe on the wings you could try someone like Calafiori or KT even Myles. Not that there's lot of options.

Fun to think about, but the reality is that Arteta will play trossard, havertz, nwaneri every single game, sterling will get on sometimes, but 2 of the 3 will play 90 minutes every game until they get injured/faint from exhaustion

Hey PC. Your suggestion is the obvious option as a starting front 3. Timber and Tierney options late on in the wide areas and Sterling has to be tried one more time.

Cannot really see a scenario where Havertz doesn’t need to play. That is the worry

Gives you rotation and allows people to have a break - keeps it somewhat structural and somewhat relational - althought it's a step back - but the 433 isnt realy viable with this many injuries.

Keeps Jorginho, Merino (and the other guy) on the bench for other game states. We have no speed.

I understand we aren’t likely to see a system change but sometimes desperate times call for desperate measures. MLS and Timber have attacking qualities that can really help in build up play without the burden of leaving the back door open. Jorginho can sub for a mid/Nwaneri helps up the top end.

Bring calafiori back into LB and push MLS up. If havertz just stays in the box and attacks the 6 yard box, nwaneri and MLS will get the ball to him. This would then at least give us trossard as an option from the bench

The only other option I see is Trossard F9 with Sterling off the left (mainly to rest Kai). Would take a big uplift in form from Sterling for Mikel to feel comfortable with that selection, I imagine.

Yep width would be a problem with the current lack of wingbacks, but I do think it's a way of getting the most out of the twenty defenders we have while also not overburdening the three attackers that are still healthy

Nwaneri can cover for Odegaard and if you want to rest either of the attackers, play a 3-4-2-1 with Ode and Nwaneri as double 10s. This also ensures we don't see a lot of Sterling (which I think everyone would be happy with)

My worry is this would be too narrow and defensive in practice. To be an attacking side with 3atb you need wingbacks who can get up and down and provide width and chance creation. Timber and Myles are a center half and midfielder by trade.

I think we're going to be a bit more defensive anyway due to the lack of attackers, but we have some profiles that can make 3atb work. Calafiori was very good as the LCB for Bologna helping with creation and ball carrying, he could lessen the burden on MLS on that side... On the right side +
