GitHub used to be written without frameworks, but the push has been to use React for all frontend code. I don't agree with the choice, and dislike using React myself.

As someone who'd defend the decision to use react for all frontend code (or similar frameworks) I'd LOVE to hear the reasoning for your position. It's so off compared to my experience that I'm sure I'd learn a lot. Do you perhaps have a blog post where you lay down this reasoning by any chance?

Damn, that was a good read. It really is strange how function components were sometimes hailed as "functional" when hooks are at best a bastardized monad with weird rules that have nothing to do with functional programming. Thanks 👍
