My old man: "This is a good job you just got. Don't fuck it up."
Second best: "When three men tell you you're drunk; lie down."
Third best: "Snitches usually do not, in fact, get stitches. They usually get a weed trimmer to their groin. And then they'll tell you everything."
Before learning what "glory hole" was slang for, I knew it was the aperture of a blast furnace through which glowing hot blown glass on a pipe was inserted to keep it pliable so it could be worked and shaped.
Then I worried about someone confusing a glory hole with a "glory hole."
I did a lot of work for Spruce Pine Batch Glass company, founded by Harvey Littleton. Lots of glass artists in the area around Penland School of Crafts.
It’s really fun. I suggest taking a class. Most good studios allow you to make a couple of pieces and then you get to take home your own homemade art. Here’s the first piece I made in class #1
It's also a gold mining term.
Using the "glory hole method", you shove your precious ore through a funnel shaped shaft, and refine your load as it falls through the hole.
I once had to watch the entire film “Mildred Pierce” through a hole I drilled in the trunk of a Ford Fairlane that had backed into the local drive-in cinema

These should be art installations tbh... Dory hole... finding dory scene...
Tory Hole would be footage of the miners strikes.

DOGE’s rampage through institutions has parallels in China’s Cultural Revolution

I survived Mao Zedong and the Chinese Communist Party’s purges. What's happening now reminds me of the CCP’s Central Cultural Revolution Group.

And vice-versa.
I love watching Corning Museum of Glass on YouTube like ASMR.
I used to have "Chihuly over Venice" on VHS, but all my tapes got destroyed by gray-green mold. I keep meaning to try getting it on disk.
At least I still have the book.

I appreciate the works his studio produces because they're done by true artisans.
I am unbelievably clumsy and should be nowhere near molten glass. I'm happy to watch less clumsy people work their magic.
