I'm at a point where I'm honestly vaguely surprised that anyone who isn't an admitted fascist (or at least fascist-comfortable) and/or a corporate account is still actively on the former Twitter. The best time to have left is long gone, but the second-best time is now.

I don't think libs/dems/progressives abandoning X will kill x. But it will be emptier.
But, week after week more and more of them are moving here because they can't stand how such a toxic garbage twitter became under elon
It's clearly been the preamble to everyone bending a knee for Trump
Thank you so very much.
This platform is a little too US centric for me (currently) and also the accounts I follow for Rugby and Watches haven’t moved over yet.
Waiting to see some creative strategies here that counteract the Musk and Trump effects, aside from blocking MAGA trolls.
Bluesky is still in sort of an awkward adolescent phase but it's still a better experience.

“tomorrows election results might give you a ‘Heart Attack’
I left that day, came here on the advise of sane acquaintances..
Bluesky’s far better.
But now it’s just bitterness and awfulness and many other energy-draining things.
I haven’t had any useful work dealings via there for months now.
(Full disclosure: I drive a Mazda.)
not that I've found work lately anyway
The other thing is, it became the default local gov alert app and that hasn’t transitioned yet
(#quantumcomputing is my gig. HMU if you need anything. Love your books.)
I would say moving to Bluesky would be interpreted as a political statement so I can understand that could be one reason why they stay
I'm also curious about people who own Teslas. Wouldn't you just be mortified to be seen in one now?
Like if they are actual comrades, I think they are tactically lost in the sauce and we need to rescue them.
What am I saying, there's no incentive for them to care anyway. But poking Elmo in the eye is always a good thing. 🙂
Maybe you're just following the wrong people?
and so long to Twitter.
I thought you were grand
till you went down the "Xitter".
Goodbye to the hatred,
the anger, the noise
you promote from the bigots,
N@z!s, and Pr0ud B0yz.
continued . . .
I haven't the need
for the Boeberts, Trump Juniors,
or Musks in my feed.
So if you're still on Xitter
but unsure what to do,
walk away from the hate.
If I could, so can you.
#DeleteTwitterNow
a) Japanese and directly involved with a niche interest of mine, some of which has jumped here but definitely not most yet, or
b) waiting for group message-chat to be implemented here.
b) will be a big trigger.
Of course, I missed the very first calendar reminder, and it was gone.
I kept an account with the same name for another year, but I deleted all of them.
and until i can get them here i will go there
MMA is primarily a MAGA sport, and even though the accounts that I follow aren't MAGA, I don't expect most of them will move to Bluesky because most of their followers are MAGA. 🤷♂️
If even a few of the key ones move, I'll kill my account.
We know this from history, but now we have a convenient data set. Maybe 10% will act on principals?
One thing I wish I had done was jot down who I followed there. Names will pop in my head at random but nowhere near as may people. Hopefully they make it over
I’m locked and I no longer post art there. Am squatting my own name but still have convos w friends who are still there.
He's no product inventive genius. He's a false claiming sham of a boy.
Contrary to public perception, I am NOT constantly subjected to nastiness. In fact, I hardly ever see any.
Maybe we need more, not fewer, level-headed people on Twitter.
I don't watch many high-follower accounts, and intentionally avoided them for a long time. Trolls tend to lurk in their comments.
The For You algorithm shows me more of what I respond to, so it doesn't serve up much that's objectionable.
1) get updates on the games I play since that’s where brands still post
2) When I’m paid to (I work in marketing)
Twitter is dead. X is the reality.
Having a browser filter that yeets the ads and algorithms helps with the experience, but I'm gradually getting off it. Unfollowing accounts as they go, or provide alternatives.
And I'll deadname twitter until I die.
I'd been cutting back usage even before Musk took over, though. The Algorithm had turned my feed almost entirely into trans people talking about how scary life is and replies by transphobes saying horrid things about them.
I use Bsky and Tumblr because both allow me to escape The Algorithm.
I block or report as many of the right wing nut-jobs as I can.
OK, that's a lie. I judge them. Harshly.
Actually want to understand (and hate that I have to spend so many characters saying that because SM is so toxic but that's another discussion)
Leaving something because you don't like it means you can no longer change it.
And as the saying goes. Keep your friend's close, your enemies closer.
And I can laugh at it.
I left a month and something ago. Still trying to find my circles here.
Many people I know use X because it's their haven. I have no choice but to keep my X solely as a necessity. When I meet people, they ask for my Facebook and my X.
I would prefer not to be on X, but for me and many like me, it's better to follow the devil here, than incur his wrath.
