Book concept: People start finding books in a Little Free Library that were never written or published in this world. Some are exactly what the "borrower" needs. Some are a delight. But some are dangerous. And the Little Free Library just might have a sinister agenda...

People disappear in the woods all the time , it’s the trees. Did anyone that ever say they actually found those in the trees disappear? 🫥 bet the school just said Billy moved away… they were just feeding the trees.
R.L. Stine, though, he's written over 400 books; I think he found the Idea Tree some time back.
I have no idea whether others are ghosted or not. I've never read any of them.
I’ve had a mysertious encounter with a Little Free Library before.
I mean, it could be one of those books about lonely people turning their lives around via books, but I think I like those better with actual librarians in them.
Then again, novels often do well with unexpected twists, if they suit the book.
This is also a great book idea in other directions, though, for sure.
But that's not exactly a stumbling block.
Plus, I don't have a plot or characters, but I'm sure I'll find them if I mull it over long enough.
😶
At least, eerily so.
1) theme must be “One Single Day”
2) MUST include an environment change that affects the main character
3) between 2,500 – 4,501 words
I hope you join & write this story!

With AI this could even be realized in the real world. Maybe even is?
But that's a book with magic books in it, sure.
Terry Pratchett also satirized this with Discworld, with the wizards Unseen University having a Reader of Invisible Writings: using existing books to figure out what as yet unwritten books would say.
I don't think I've ever gotten such response of a tossed-off post.
Especially if someone gets too close to the truth then the next LFL they open has a copy of a complete dossier on them, including stuff they didn't know.. some things you'd need an autopsy to learn.
Everyone else who's claimed it's already been done has been naming things that are at best vaguely similar, and often not even that.
But I don't know about honest -- I would assume many of the books are fiction.
ugh, i hear ya!
Someday!
"Nothing Comes For Free"
Sounds like a great modern horror story.
For instance, what you outline doesn't involve things that were never written in this world. Neither did another post about using AI to do it.

It's not good!
But still, if you write it, I’ll read it 😊
Your book concept makes me think of it, a story i read when i was 12 that blew my mind and that has stayed in my thoughts ever since.
Off to cause some good trouble…
Why would I assume I know you?
The time travel element gives me SK’s 11/22/63 vibes
But then, so does Lucien's Library or the Hicksville Library or any number of other stories with odd libraries in them.
Except it was a novella.
Published in a magazine.
That I don't recall and never saw again.
But there was a film based on it.
That no one else has ever heard of or remembers.
I was in the middle of writing something else and now I have to write this one. 😳
The story idea should be sent to the Goosebumps author lol
