My local supermarket has a decent pizza shop in it so every time I go to do my shopping I get a slice of “shopping pizza” which is pizza I eat while I shop for other healthier food and I cannot recommend this process enough

My ex used to walk around with me when i shopped and he would just take things off the shelf , eat or drink them then make me pay for the empties while he sat in the car.
yeah thats how i felt too. told him to at least take my card and go pay for the crap BEFORE he ate it as its technically theft. And he is an EX for a reason. it lasted 11 years though , after i chewed him out for it , he just dropped me off and i had to page him when i was done. ( yes PAIGED him)
Ah yes. I remember getting paged with short grocery shopping lists and get the stuff on the drive home from work. We thought it was really clever. About 1990 I recall.
WHAT?!?!?! Our supermarket has a sushi shop, but no pizza. Now that I know this is an option, guess I'm gonna be firing off some emails to the folks over at Kroger. I'm gonna want "shopping Mac & Cheese," too. Holy sh*t! And tacos!
Hi there. Born in Philly, lived in NJ and CT, am as well versed in the art of pizza as anybody. I’ve had it all from New Haven to Brooklyn to South Philly and back again, and that does not change the fact that my supermarket makes decent pizza 🤷♂️
I could be talked into doing a lot of things for a warm, freshly baked cinnamon roll with a small amount of melted butter on the top as a reward. 😂 I hardly ever have them.
Harris Teeter has that.
Some Ingles have a buffet bar.....wings and stuff.
I find most franchise pizza places refuse to put enough sauce on them .....even when we tell them. Used to be a HUGE Marcos fan but they won't do it.
Sounds wonderful in theory, but going shopping when you’re full, is as bad as going when you’re hungry, except you come home and haven’t even bought enough to see you through to the next day 🤷♀️
I’m all for it; alas, I don’t have that luxury. All the grocery stores where I live do have Starbucks but an overpriced coffee isn’t equal to your shopping pizza!😸
I love that. Godiva used to have a kiosk in the mall in our city. I would buy a coconut truffle when I went there to get something or just window shop. Sadly it didn’t survive the pandemic. The people in the kiosk were so nice & funny it was a real treat to stop there & I miss it!
I do this with a chocolate croissant, get the most amused looks from other women like “you fucking go girl” as I scan a bag of salad into my basket with half a pastry hanging out my mouth mid bite 😂
Ha, awesome, love this!Reminds me of when I do my big monthly shop, I always grab a couple deep/fried samosas from the store deli to eat for supper after I get home and get done putting away all the healthy stuff, so I don’t have to cook!
That sounds like a great grocery store. I would probably do the same while shopping there. Also, pizza isn't necessarily unhealthy. Depends on how it's made and how much you consume, IMO.
We used to have a chain here in Florida called Lucky’s Market that had a 16oz beer and two slices of pizza deal for $9 with cup holders on their carts.
When shopping, I used to check the fresh-baked baguettes at the supermarket bakery, and if they were still warm, I'd tear off pieces and eat it while I shopped. I felt very French
I work at a wine shop where we bake baguettes every day. We had a customer who used to come in on Saturdays with his three little girls, and the first thing he would do is get a baguette, break it in thirds, and give each of them a piece. They would quietly follow him around, munching their bread.
I get a small bag of Cheez-Its from the vending machine at the Medical Center when I have an appointment. It’s the only time I eat them and it’s my reward. 😀
I feel so seen. We have a local grocery & Italian restaurant with excellent pizza by the slice. I want to give it my fullest attention, so I wait until the shopping is done.
It's like me drinking a few beers across the street from my gym - only to realize that I am too toasted, full, tired, to work out...and gosh, would you look at the time?
Just remembered something. When I was a kid, my mom grocery shopped at a store called Two Guys. In the entrance lobby, they had a hot dog guy. I loved them because they had BBQ onions as one of the condiment options. Me & my brother loved them.
It was all about the onions.
I volunteer at a homeless shelter every Saturday & afterwards I treat myself to a coffee, croissant, and an hour reading my book in a café. Is it a treat if it happens every week?
I sometimes open pickles, olives, or pickled okra to eat while I grocery shop. I'm also guilty of drinking a small orange juice or chocolate milk while cruising the aisles. Doesn't everybody? 😁
I can easily comprehend how you muricans drink coffee while doing all kinds of things, but eating a pizza while shopping? That's just wild. Pic or it didn't happen?
It actually makes a kind of mad sense. The advice is to never shop hungry, so if eating one piece of junk food reduces temptation enough to avoid buying several pieces, it's a net win.
There's a whole psychological approach to the way grocery stores are setup. From florals at the entrance near the produce to invoke freshness to putting high margin items at eye level.
One trick is that you want people to be hungry when they shop, so they're likely to buy more.
It's also the isles layout, their designed to make you go through each one/ farthest away, so you have to look at other isles, TEMPTED to buy things, constantly feeding into the bullshit capitalist bullshit.
Looking at these comments makes me feel like an outcast. When I was a youngster and shopping with my Mom she had a STRICT rule: absolutely no eating food or treats in the store.
Now I see parents pacifying their kids with all sorts of goodies. Guess it's better than a total meltdown from junior.
I hate to be the buzzkill in the room, but don't do that. Don't touch things in the supermarket and use the same hands, unwashed, to put food in your mouth. It's an excellent way to catch a cold or flu. I know everyone does this without thinking, but maybe think about it.
Eating whilst actively shopping isn't really 'a thing' here, but I love to go buy all the healthy food then reward myself with a spud fries & aioli from the burger place in the same complex. Fantastic motivator!

+shopping hack when my kid was little was to buy him a corn dog at the grocery deli immediately upon entry - gave me about 20 good minutes of shopping time

While I respect, even envy, pizza-eating while shopping I can’t help but think:
“How do you say ‘I don’t live in the tristate area’ (NYC-CT-NJ) without saying you don’t live in the tristate area?”

For years, nutrition experts have recommended that we shouldn't go food shopping on an empty stomach.

My wife and I eat them a couple of times a month
I haven't had a shower beer since college

Healthy eating. 🍕🍕🍕
Pizza appeals to me more
Good for you, kitten
But it does not take away from you being very boring.
Got it.
It was all about the onions.
is much better than
Shopping while hungry
Deli and cold cuts that they eat on the way home from a grocery shop. It needs to be all eaten by the time they get home.
*see also ‘pocket meat’ for trips to the grocery story on foot. 🤣
I would probably get that coffee milkshake every time
....and now I'm hungry.

Shopping is a dire experience 99% of the time….
Pizza is warrior food for the brain.
