Gonna play a fun game while I'm in hospital, and check out how many of the wonderful people keeping me alive are immigrants. We can start with my surgeon, who arrived in the UK aged 3 with his folks from Pakistan.

Had a month in hospital in 2022. A league of nations cared for me - 🇮🇹 🇫🇷 🇵🇰 🇲🇾 🇹🇭 🇮🇪 🇩🇪 🇺🇸 🇮🇳 🇵🇭 🇨🇳 🇬🇧 🇪🇸 J🇯🇲 🇳🇴 🇳🇬 🇿🇦 and it was across the board, nurses, cleaners, consultants, junior Dr's, care assistants, porters, the bloke who brought tea in the morning and all sorts of jobs I'm forgetting.
Absolutely! Hope you are recovering and being kind to yourself. OH has had heart surgery x2 and all the staff from all over the world have been amazing.
Perils of being fit; the nurse has twice had to recalibrate the heart monitor down, so that it stops freaking out over my resting heart rate being under 45.
Now I have Isha looking after me overnight, whose incalculable damage to this country was *checks notes* training to be a really competent and kind nurse. (Plus she brought me chocolate.)
I spent far too much time in hospital trying to get the heart monitor that I was plugged into to register 69. I am apparently a grown adult. And please get well soon.
I fully concur with your OP in that 90% of both my NHS heart & abdominal surgery teams in Torbay Hospital were from various parts of the world.
All amazing and beautiful caring souls that I owe my life to.
My last LC19 hospitalisation was compromused as they hadnt spotted that the bp reading they took were high for me ... nice little relapse trigger then if you compare to other patients, not 'normal me'
Yup. The skilled heart surgeon who saved my Mum's life was a Nigerian who chose to move to Northern Ireland if all places. Her anaesthetist, who was so patient and gentle with us all as he explained what they'd done afterwards, was from India.
I've just been discharged from hospital, and almost everyone, from the team serving meals to the consultant, were immigrants, doing a brilliant job in an incredibly hard environment.
The hospital I'm at actually has a little flag on everyone's badge with language skill info, so that those with English as an additional language can get help in a more familiar tongue. Immigration is brilliant.

HT to all those looking after you!
Best wishes for a speedy recovery
You must be able to pick up FM radio.
Are they pleased with you? Is your clockwork all fixed?
I'm late but I've read through, glad everything seems to have gone well and that you are resting comfortably.
Virtual hugs. Not real hugs because I'd get my clumsy ass tangled and pull out an important wire.

2) Get well soon!
When I woke up from heart bypass surgery my first though was „well, I survived the op“.
Wishing you a speedy recovery.
All the best for your hospital stay.
