Normal mode, easy (with an indication to "enjoy the story" and then two different modes to play them...and dynamic option or a more classic option. Hard mode opens after completion.
Love how they cater to their fans.
I'm a fan of stories...and while challenge is nice, too much can hinder the story.
Devs put a lot of work into their story...why gatekeep it with difficulty that can be altered?
And tbf on that last point, shields are pretty OP in Elden Ring, especially if you upgrade them.
Rolling's great, but it shouldn't be the one and only strat to avoid damage!
I kid. There are many amazing games out there that don't have fishing minigames.
But only the ones that have fishing minigames can truly be considered perfect.
Wo Long Dynasty first Boss, still stuck... Just, what the hell?! 😂😭
Come back every couple of months and make minor progress but I'm about to tap out and move on.
Too bad they already have my money
Minecraft/MarioBros: Good. Not hard

There's always so much debate around Soulsborne games. Imo they have a steep learning curve but once you're up to speed, they're well balanced.
Creative as all hell, silly cameos and themed levels, and fun little details that result in an experience that will make your mouth hurt from smiling like a little kid
But for someone like me, who has issues playing difficult games due to my own mental inhibitors and anxiety, WANT to play Souls, but can't the "real way"
So I want to mod it easier for me to enjoy it for myself
I play to experience art, world, vibes, and aesthetics.
"OH but if I wanted to do that I'd go to a museum or sumthin..."
Bro. Games are art. I'm not going to debate why you like blue and I like red... Jesus fuck.
they are not hard enough, there must be even higher difficulty floors to allow for yet higher skill ceilings
I’m talking to the people who think that games that are too easy aren’t necessarily good just because it’s easy!
There are difficult games that are good, but not all of them have to be
I like my difficult games, but that one is still good.
You are too weakminded to know this.... Leave us.....
“Is it ok for a good game to be difficult, thereby making it non-accessible for some people?”
(I’m not talking about unnecessary difficulty, but rather difficulty being part of the artist’s wanted experience)
Celeste style assist modes should be in more games, like where it explicitly says that the mode is Not Recommended for most people, but is there for anyone who finds the game otherwise inaccessible
If it is hard through Game design, requiring skill (even if it's possibly unfair) then I agree.
I will have a lower opinion of games that are hard due to RNG.
This is why I have no interest in shit like PoE2
I do math and science for a living. I'm not trying to do it for my hobbies.
Challenge, however, must be introduced if a feeling of accomplishment is be earned.
What you read or watch is up to you, though.
As is with any medium of entertainment.
Difficult Animal Crossing doesn't make much sense, does it? /J.
Miyazaki got a clear artistic style, it's not bad just because fans like it for the wrong reasons.
Like all Kirby games
As always, it is always about balance in presenting well thought-out challenges.
But not with friends cos they tell me I Unpack weirdly
Especially seeing as most 'cozy games' devolve into capitalism sooner or later anyway
Bring back complaining about final bosses being too easy in games
Can't find any easier game.
OK, it is almost like an (semi) interactive experience, but ,it is an awesome exemple of "video games as engines of experience".
Happily, if this kind of gatekeeping had any impact on indies and studios that defined some new genre, we'd still be playing Pac-Man variants.
I did that and remapped the non movement keys to it and it made eternal much more fun to play
Meanwhile I liked elden ring, but quit because I couldn't get good at it.
I guess it depends on the person playing and what experience they are looking for.
I don’t need my relaxation to be stressful. Unless I want the stress.
Choices for all!
I actually find stress relief in a game that pushes my focus.
Unless it's Touhou, then I start with Lunatic and smash my head against the wall.
Difficulty itself is subjective, and enjoyment comes in many forms. Some players want exploration, some want completion, others want to socialize, others want mastery and the rush of perfection.
I also find it fascinating how what a game is can evolve as your own relationship with it changes.
Some of us know how to express and experience emotions other than anger. That's the skill you're missing if you cannot find fun in easy games.
Some players enjoy difficulty. Some players enjoy deep stories. Some players enjoy complex rulesets.
Play what you like, however you want to play it. There's no wrong way to play.
If you hate how hard dark souls is just move on to other games youre not meant to enjoy every kind of video games out there
And also if it was necessary there would've been an assist mode for the game
The game can be a cozy farm game, and never has to evolve past that for you if its not your style.
All of it can be fun, all for different player perspectives and ways of having fun.
<3
(still looks like an ice cream cone to me 😆)
*play doom eternal on ultra nightmare 👀*
I find difficult games to be a turn off. I'm there to turn my brain off and have fun, not scrape together a 10-step strategy for every encounter.
