The thing about it, for me, is that I believe in living a healthy, simple life. But having these self-indulgent, smug, arrogant barely human beings saying it just chafes my soul.
Its weird how variance has been predicted so that food from production to consumption is fairly well figured out. Except that it has been in excess so now as it becomes less known and the cost of excess production is more pronounced we are entering a very Cool Zone moment for sure.
If you cling to a low rung on the economic ladder, it's been obvious for a while that people's ability to spend money on extras like fast food etc. is disappearing. It just takes a while before economic reporting climbs down to that low rung and figures out what is really happening.
Fast food is for people that have to get back to their jobs - fast. People skipping breakfast are sleeping in because they don’t have a job to go to. The jobs numbers are all old and don’t reflect the current debacle.
You got that right. Once you drop off unemployment and are no longer eligible or if you didn't qualify in the first place and a lot of jobless don't the numbers just don't reflect reality.
I’ve never collected unemployment even though I’ve been unemployed for multi-year stretches over a 45-year “career.” And having spent a lot of that time in “data analysis,” I don’t think there is a good way to get a full or current picture of the employment situation in this country right now.
"McDonald’s still pulled in a net income of $1.87 billion this past quarter, but that is compared with $1.93 billion during the same period last year, according to the release."
McD's is seeing declines because they went completely crazy. I had bfast there on a recent work trip - did you know the McMuffin with egg costs over $5 more than the one without egg? $5+ for an EGG. No thank you.
So, we've officially moved from, "A chicken in every pot and a car in every garage," to "Two meals and two dolls is all you peasants need!" Are we great yet?
There’s a chap called Lee Anderson in the UK he’s an MP for the Reform UK (cut-price amateur Nazi tribute act) clown party.
And also a presenter for GBNews (a cut-price FauxNudes)
anyway…
He goes by the nickname ‘30p Lee’ on account of him saying you can feed someone on 30p (around 50c) a day.
"A young lady -- 10 year old girl, 9 year old girl, 15 year old girl -- doesn't need 37 potatoes. She could be very happy with 1 or 2 or 3 or...well, 3 really is the max. For a week."
Will America become healthier from better decisions on eating better things for breakfast at home
Will America become sicker and more stressed out by eating nothing or just shoving handfuls of Cinnamon Toast Crunch in their face while crying… for breakfast
The funny thing is breakfast was invented by corporations anyway. Capitalism is really a snake that eats itself (it temporarily snapped w breakfast but)
Really? I did not know this. I can see where the idea of specific breakfasts (cereal, eg) can be marketed. But breakfast itself? Where can I find out more?
If you go back in time, "breakfast" was really just what was left over from dinner the night before. People certainly did eat in the morning after they woke, but this idea that certain foods are only eaten in the morning is relatively new.
Since I have had to work for a living in this country, I have been skipping breakfast. My breakfast has been coffee and a handful of medication before I bolt for the door.
Remember when one of the cereal companies put out a commercial that you can have cereal for dinner? I've been doing that long before they tried to make it a thing.
There is also that little matter that for what McDonalds is charging I can get a better tasting tidbit locally. They are not always the cheapest gig in the market. And we only ever went there because it was cheap.🤷🏼♀️
During times of economic depression, anecdotal evidence suggests it's a good time to invest in dog food companies, as the poor and others on limited incomes purchase dog food instead of real food, or to supplement it.
Only in a capitalist or dictatorship country would this be a thing shameful
New amazing diet makes you lose weight WOW all Natural WOW It's not crazy, It's peanuts!
2 🥜 breakfast
10 🥜 Lunch
12 🥜 Dinner
Just $10.00/day! WOW that's peanuts!
one of the tea-leaf readers of our economy said this was because there's already job losses so there aren't as many people getting McMuffins on their way to work
I rarely get fast food, but yesterday I got takeout at one of the better fast food burger places. It was ridiculously expensive, the burger was cold, they didn't even wrap it properly before they threw it in the bag, and it wasn't exactly what I ordered. Just not worth it.
I think media finally moved past this meme with Gen Z growing up to be a new punching bag. That’s right, Millennials killed the Millennials killing industries industry.
If you call it "intermittent fasting", skipping breakfast sounds
much more virtuous and intentional than if you call it
"slacking off and just having coffee".
(Only times I have fast-food breakfast are when I'm commuting early or they have it available at lunch time.)
During Bolsonaro's term, we were graced by some headlines in big newspapers such as "molded bread? see the pros and cons", "how bad are the woodworms in your food" and "eating chicken feet is actually great for your skin"...
It's what I had for dinner last night and tonight. 🤷♂️
Not as cheap as it used to be, or should be... but cheaper than alternatives. I get boxes of organic knockoff honey nut cheerios for about $5/box.
Its usually $8/box but when I see it on sale I stock up a few boxes as my budget allows.
You don't need 3 meals a day. That convention started with factory shifts. I typically eat 2. Some people need 4. Whatever you're comfortable with is fine.
Also, you can't skip breakfast, but you can eat it later than other people.
It is surprising that McDonalds is losing customers, when they are the cheapest place to eat. I thought sales always went up for them in hard financial times.
fast food bad. americans are the fattest. americans have no healthcare. this is actually called a silver lining. y'all don't need fast food breakfast in anyway shape or form.
I've been skipping breakfast since my pre-teens and let me tell you the £3.50 I've saved every two weeks on cereal has done me absolutely no benefit what so ever, you can't do shit with 25p a day. When people start skipping breakfast it's not a choice, they literally don't have a spare 25p a day.
It’s not that uncommon to skip breakfast. I do it quite often, either due to not being hungry when waking up or I have to get up before the sun for work. I know several ppl who do this as well
I never ate breakfast much as my stomach has never liked a full on food first thing. Of course I would be ravenous before lunch and I would get a headache. Then I started having fresh fruit for breakfast and all was well.
It could be, but I stopped because of the price increases. And somebody on FB posted a pic of a McDonald's chicken sandwich with some kind of worm in it. That pretty much did me in.
I haven’t had a fast food breakfast in months. Monjouro is one reason. Just don’t crave it enough to deal with: 1) being asked if I’m using a stupid app, 2) getting interrupted by the order taker, 3) the limited options, 4) the cost, 5) the roulette of whether my order will be complete & correct.
Maybe I would get fast food if combo meals didn't cost $15...you aren't Olive Garden, or Chilis or Applebee's, or an actual authentic restaurant either. We want to pay no more than ten bucks and get enough food to feel sick...
Lol for sure. Careful, his cult members aren't great at deciphering satire from reality. You might start a new fad diet of McDonald's twice a day amongst his faithful.

At least I'll feel like I'm in my 20s again
I shouldn't be.
Enforced dieting is coming.
Huge difference between being happy with what you have, and being dismissive about what others have.
Nobody in the administration is skipping meals
Those meals should be nutritious though. And aye, there lies the rub.
We have recessioned before.
You have had enough today

(here the first article explaining this I could quickly find)

Instead of the anticipated 2% increase globally they’re down 1% because of a 3.6% decrease in the US. When executives support someone that can bankrupt a casino, what did they expect?
I am not alone.
Cook everything thoroughly and.... SEASON!!

If you're going to skip a meal (you shouldn't, nor should anyone have to), skip lunch.
Breakfast is crucial to giving you slow-burn energy to get through the day, and you've likely not eaten in over 12 hours.
Have a little bit of fruit as a midday snack.
We're eating the dogs.
They don't sell those. So we're not shopping there... stopping at the cats and dogs store on my way to work now.

Fast food is no longer fast nor cheap.
