Reminder: Actors are still on strike for bare minimum guard rails on the use of AI in videogames and we have been for 11 months. We have struck longer and with less resources than our on-camera colleagues.

Milkshake duck moment

Why is AI only here to replace people that are criminally underpaid like translators, actors, artists and tour guides?? I've worked as a tour guide during summer vacations and I was paid minimal wage like most people I know in this line of work

I'm writing a short story (well, a pastiche from an author I like actually) about Venezuelan cuisine and you know what?? 90% of search engine results are absolutely useless because it's machine translated garbage, I HATE IT I HATE WHAT PEOPLE DID TO THE INTERNET

gentleman, gentleman, please, there's no need for this! you are both in the epstein files.

PREDICTION: Trump puts the IRS and FBI onto Elon Musk. Perhaps even ICE. Musk responds with a scorched Earth approach outlining how he rigged voting machines to elect Trump illegitimately. Chaos reigns. Fox News runs breaking news reports on Hunter Biden and Hillary Clinton’s emails.

I'll finally watch Shiori Ito's "Black Box Diaries" next week as my local cinema is doing a rerun. I can't wait!!

Choose France !

side effect of AI-in-higher-ed: having to spend my ONE WILD AND PRECIOUS LIFE googling footnotes for articles that I can't believe I missed off my reading lists only to discover that they aren't, in fact, real articles

Imagine if you were so bad at your job that you completely messed up 79% of the time. But instead of being sacked, your company sacks everyone else, and the government changes the law to give you everyone else’s money.

i only need under $6,000 to meet my goal for top surgery in august! if you'd like to help a trans person out, please consider donating or sharing the campaign!

I keep being asked what graduate writers and game devs can do to break into the industry. Right now actually doing the work you were assigned puts you above SO many other candidates. So do the work.

I teach a game writing class. Students have scripts, worldbuilding docs, treatments, etc due every week About half the class used ChatGPT last semester even though I made it clear using an LLM = an F. When I asked why a studio would ever hire them if their work was just ChatGPT, they seemed stunned

90s?? That's what my current job looks like

I'm looking at reviews _for a thingy_ and I'm happy to see that not only Tinykin is getting played in 2025 (as it should!!!!) but that the players praise its loc and say things like "done by humans and not AI". @fromthevoid.net @splashteam.bsky.social.

READING FOR PLEASURE has the biggest positive impact of any factor on children's life chances. So whatever else you do, please never stop reading books with kids, and encouraging them to read. Never stop helping them find books to read and love. Never stop changing lives. #literacy #books

reminder, bsky has a clever way to display pronouns that's built in! but you only see them if you yourself opt in, so please feel free to here by subscribing and then choosing which applies!! @pronouns.diy

ok its offical if i see you playing any harry potter games im fucking blocking you

Someone else said something very similar to this the other day, but. It really burns me that our (millennials') generation was legally terrorized for like, downloading Radiohead discographies But we're supposed to be ok with billionaires stealing human intellectual output in its entirety bc AI

I discovered yesterday, in a mass email sent at 3am, that I will not be receiving the roughly £40,000 that my publisher Unbound/Boundless owes me for pre-order sales of The Paradox Paradox. The payment for five years of work, gone. #unboundless

"If there were justice in the world, Musk would never be able to repair his reputation... Musk’s sojourn in government has revealed severe flaws in his character — a blithe, dehumanizing cruelty, and a deadly incuriosity. This should shape how he’s seen for the rest of his public life."

we desperately need fans to: A. know that AI localization will absolutely ruin their favorite manga, anime, games, and books B. fan outrage over AI use is one of the best and only ways we can fight back. most loc professionals are freelance. we're not union. we have no power. Fans must speak up.

Polite reminder to anyone who needs it today: AI doesn’t “help you to write.” PRACTICE helps you to write.

Thankfully, the Swiss trust science and evacuated the town days earlier. But yes, add this town's disapperance to the many, many costs of climate change.

Open AI’s valuation is at $400 billion. They used about 190,000 books to train their plagiarism bot. Randomly saying 25% of their value comes from that stolen dataset, I think they owe the authors about $526,000 per stolen book.
