Update on the GatherPress project – May 2025 We were invited to give regular updates about GatherPress. Here are the advancements made by GatherPress since our initial proposal from January 2024… Update on the GatherPress project – May 2025

Shoutout to our design director, Alleanna Barrera! Our 2025 logo for #WCEH draws inspiration from college letter jackets — the kind you’d wear with pride, boldly sewn together with the spirit of community and curiosity. canada.wordcamp.org/2025/wordcam...

I've had these broken Kahtoola links on my desk since the pandemic winter. It did not take long to grind down the links. In one spot the steel is paper thin. cmt.blog/2025/05/06/k...

How do #WordPress, the Fediverse, the IndieWeb, and Open Source ecosystems help keep content accessible, independent, and interoperable? Bring your project / ideas to #WCEH: canada.wordcamp.org/2025/this-fa...

Please bear with me while I use OpenVibe across lots of accounts! It's been getting better and better, and it lets me get all the social media worth having in one place, but the writing/editing/replying interface leaves a lot for future improvements. If I double post something, that's why.

WP YEG joins the Fediverse Because I jhope it makes us the target of friendly "DDoS" attacks, I finally installed and activated the ActivityPub plugin on WPYEG.org, allowing it to interact with… https://wpyeg.org/2025/04/23/wp-yeg-joins-the-fediverse/?utm_source=bluesky&utm_medium=jetpack_social

I had the honor of being interviewed by the PublishPress podcast about building a community and creating content (two of my favorite topics!). It was a fun discussion, and we got to chat about some things I don't get to speak on too often: youtu.be/oThwBJLM4zg?...

Every year, we do a survey of WordPress freelancers & agency owners. It's anonymous, and the entire dataset is freely available to everyone. If you sell WordPress services to clients, I'd love for you to be included: airtable.com/appSlIAaDEJQ... Survey closes Friday!

In a recent PublishPress interview, @bradw.illiams.com discusses how @webdevstudios.com educates on the power of the Block Editor as a solution. “We're bringing this to our clients now, in some creative ways, and it's a game changer!" Listen in ➡️ www.youtube.com/watch?v=omJV...

Hilarious and serendipitous: I've been thinking about Brand and the Whole Earth Catalog a bit more than usual lately. https://books.worksinprogress.co/book/maintenance-of-everything/vehicles/digression-2-from-manuals-to-youtube-with-a-detour-two-assault-rifles/6

This isn’t new to anyone who taught university students in the last 30 years. The warnings about literacy, critical thinking, and meaningful grading standards go back 50 years. I’m surprised Idiocracy took so long.

It's not that the kid is wrong, it's that he's wrong with utter and serene confidence. When people ask me why I wrote The Death of Expertise, it wasn't ignorance that compelled me to write, it was this kind of unbreakable, completely self-assured ignorance that did it.

I was on a podcast! Community is the Foundation of Great Journalism Hosted by @steveburge.com and @danknauss.wtf! Great time talking all things publishing on WordPress. www.youtube.com/watch?v=xwuw...

We've just set up a PublishPress podcast interview with Tyler from Paywall Project. It's one of the most interesting projects in WordPress right now. It's a all-in-one platform for small newspapers and publishers: www.paywallproject.com

WordCamp Asia, AI tools for WordPress development, and ways to get more involved in the WP community It was great to meet… https://wpyeg.org/2025/02/21/wordcamp-asia-ai-tools-for-wordpress-development-and-ways-to-get-more-involved-in-the-wp-community/?utm_source=bluesky&utm_medium=jetpack_social

POSSE from #wordpress works, but then I need ORFOC: only read friends/follows in own context.

OpenVibe could get me using Mastodon and BlueSky more, but what I'd really like is Texts on mobile. Merging the two would make a lot of sense. Afraid it would end up like Hootsuite/Tweetdeck though. Difficult for personal use due to context switching.

At our next meetup (Wed, Feb 19 6:00 PM MST), Harvey Porter will show us his Hockey League Management System. (Built with #WordPress.) Join us at Edmonton Unlimited.

We spoke with Chris Hardie for the PublishPress podcast, and he explained what it's like to run a newspaper day-to-day. Makes being a WordPress developer look very easy 😅

We've been moving sites from WP Engine to Kinsta and I'm consistently blown away by the speed. The speed in the dashboard and especially the speed of navigating the site via shell and running WP-CLI commands. Speed (and sales tactics) have been the top client complaints with WPE recently.

So we did a thing, and launched a new podcast. The focus is on WordPress publishing. The first four episodes are live today: 1. @sethrubenstein.info from Pew Research 2. @outlandishjosh.bsky.social from Pantheon 3. @andydehnart.com from Reality Blurred 4. Chris Hardie from Western Wayne News

@stevejburge.bsky.social and I are co-hosting a new #PublishPress podcast. In the first episode, we talk with @chrishardie.bsky.social. #WordPress #Publishing #Journalism publishpress.com/blog/podcast...
