The problem with “trickle down” is that the guys on top of the mountain have figured out how to make glaciers.
We need a wealth tax to thaw those glaciers.

The military can’t operate that way — disaster(s) will ensue.
SOMEBODY ordered them to be there — sue that person! Court martial them! The next officer won’t be so quick to obey informal orders next time

I don’t think it’s a secret. They are in charge of the Presidency, house, & Senate.
And yes, I also think they are doing a terrible job, but so far they haven’t been held responsible for doing a terrible job

We call them “Republicans”

Sounds like a campaign slogan — for Democrats

Maybe - but they need to own that, and everyone not in on that needs to hang it around their neck.
Ask your former Republican colleagues how healthy is the Nazi party in Germany today, and do they want to follow that same path.

I realize that may be a novel argument, but I also think it is far more justified by a reasonable interpretation of the text than deciding that individuals have a right to bear arms free of any state regulations.
comment in response to

That sounds line a genuine infringement on the 2nd amendment. The federal government, by nationalizing anyone in the CALIFORNIA national guard without state approval, is infringing on California’s right to keep and bear arms in the form of a well regulated militia.

Spiderweb was actually a two-phase op*. 1) Sabotage the retaliatory strike capabilities, 2) attack multiple airport & strategic aircraft.

I’m not talking about spoiler voting. Even discussing spoiler voting gives me flashbacks to ‘88, talking to people that switched and voted for Bush 1 because “he would never win”.
Vote in the R primaries for the R you would most want to see win if the R’s win the general. Still vote D in November.
comment in response to

Nah, every moderate, conservative, and centrist Dem should register as a Repub and — this is key — VOTE IN REPUB PRIMARIES. Do this with the goal of fixing the insane party.

We need to be asking about the response of major news media. This story — the arrest of congressional staff by DHS — should be the top story for a month, overwhelming all mentions of Joe Biden, or Hakeem Jeffries, or any of the other usual distractions. Even tariffs should be distant 2nd.

Meanwhile, DHS has arrested congressional staffers — WHY IS THAT NOT FRONT PAGE NEWS. IT SHOULD BE FRONT PAGE FOR A MONTH

There was a primary.
BTW, DHS has arrested congressional staffers —- WHY IS THAT NOT FRONT PAGE NEWS?

This needs to cover the full front page of the largest newspaper of every US city with more than 500,000 people
Anything less is journalistic malfeasance

Really, heads of any foreign nations should absolutely not be doing this. You’re not helping the US, and you’re definitely not helping yourself or your own country

I disagree - Republicans need to get their act together and clean up the mess they created.
- If no one voted for Trump, he would have no power.
- If Republicans stopped enabling Trump, he would lose his power.

That’s actually more accountability than I remembered — I didn’t remember the conviction. Time and age conspire to do that.

I can tell you what I require to improve my faith in politics:
Accountability
It has been lacking since Oliver North, and getting worse. And the problem is worse for one party than the other (e.g. Al Franken was forced to resign - any equivalent accountability from Rs?)
