Well said. AI is a grift. And my new MP is a grifter.

Worth noting that both Trudeau and now Carney have spent the past half-year enabling/pandering to Trump's lies about Canada and fentanyl. And it's gotten Canada less than nothing. Flattering the autocrat is not a viable survival strategy. Maybe Canada should try something else?

"Covid is over. We have the tools" First they took away masks Then they took away tests They stopped distancing They stalled on clean air They stopped tracking data They stopped research Now they are limiting vaccines

I'm late to this, but Violet Affleck beautifully dissects the nature of these interlocking crises as well as what can be done to fight them. This is a must read piece. yaleglobalhealthreview.com/2025/05/18/a...

#MECFSAwarenessMonth – Day 20 2018: Emma Shorter tells the Scottish Parliament how Graded Exercise Therapy left her needing a wheelchair. Prof. Jonathan Edwards submits evidence saying patients were vilified but they were right — the science was poor quality.

Tired of tweeting about the rise of novel SARS-CoV-2 variants. Tired of saying the Covid pandemic isn't over. Tired of seeing people in position of prominence and privilege, who devastated public health, being given prizes and awards. We deserve to live.

Fascinating how Canadians recognize the power that lobby groups like O&G, developers, etc have in shaping government policy but when community groups manage to shape policy, there's 0 recognition of the hard work that went into it. It's just "Wow! Politician made the right choice on their own! Yay!"

When I complained in March that Carney had left Gould out of Cabinet, a lot of Liberals told me to wait until the post-election Cabinet. Surely he’d appoint her then. Well?

The Covid pandemic isn't over. Nor is the minimization of Covid and LongCovid.

I appreciate WHO raising awareness about Long Covid. I, however, considered, and still consider, a great mistake to have declared the end of Covid "as a global emergency" two years ago. This contributed to minimize the ongoing risks of SARS-CoV-2 infection, including death and Long Covid

The fact is… we have a slower disaster cooking… It’s similar to the climate emergency. Slow, but may be devastating. #LongCOVID

People are missing the point Trump isn’t looking to make a deal that has never been the goal of Project 2025. We need to look for new trading partners instead of wasting time trying to achieve that which cannot be achieved.

💯 In the current Ontario Measles outbreak, 58 people have contracted Measles after having 2 vaccine doses, including 2 pregnant women Bring back masks

Electoral reform is essential for all sorts of reasons. Speaking from Ontario, Doug Ford getting a majority with votes from 19% of the electorate is another good motivation. That, and abysmal turnout. And vote splitting. And...

Yes a good thing. However am concerned that it looks like Ford’s fortress Am-Can, so we all have to be on our toes

Every challenge facing us is made more dangerous and more difficult to address by the concentrated power of the ultra-wealthy.

Yep. This shows how far right everything has moved, that many see the Liberals of today the way they saw the Progressive Conservatives of yesteryear.

We should really consider extending this: make transit free all the time; save millions in insurance processing and other costs associated with fairs; make transit, free, boost, ridership; set an inspirational goal for other cities to tackle climate change 1/

Last night NDP voters saved Canada from the surging hard right, but had to sacrifice our own party in the process. Today the battle begins for a system where we don't have to do that any more. We badly need a party that can save Canada from the oligarchs who brought us all to the brink.

Everyone who touted Carney’s environmental policies needs to be on him like white on rice starting today. He’s not the progressive you thought he was. It’s time to push him to do better than be a red conservative.

Fiscally conservative Liberals are breathing a sigh of relief this morning, while the sheep celebrate "Canada understanding the assignment". If the assignment was to ensure that fiscal conservatives run the country into austerity, then yes. 💯 OBJECTIVE ACHIEVED 💯 🙄 The Liberal...

The big picture isn't looking good. Yes, this result is far less bad than it was going to be, but everything is moving rightward. Trumpism doesn't come out of the blue, it is the culmination of ratcheting farther and farther right over many years.

Mark Carney’s vision for the future of Canada is an oligarchy of better-behaved oligarchs—a corporate technocracy that resolves the twin crises of declining living standards and environmental catastrophe without slowing capital accumulation.
