I thought the same too. He had time and space but chose to release Minteh who arguably should have also done better. Definitely a talking point to be had on @albionobsessed.bsky.social later today!

Yeah, double jeopardy. Still think he was lucky not to see red and speaks to the wider issue of the lack of consistency in officiating.

Then why was the Bristol City player sent off the other night? 🤔

It was telling how Pawson, who was so keen to blow his whistle whenever a Newcastle player fell over, didn't even blink when MO'R was kicked.

Kill? That's a bit dramatic 😂 I think some good old fashioned booing and being moaned about on social media should suffice 😅

Whilst I think it would have been a bit soft, the fact he didn't blow up for it when he seemed quite whistle happy for the Newcastle, ones speaks volumes.

I don't necessarily disagree. I think I'm just angry about the FK which was clear simulation. Granted, Gomez should have put us back in the lead but couldn't manage it.

Giving Newcastle a FK when the player dives which directly leads to a penalty is a match deciding decision, no? Or at least, adjacent.

I think "much better" is a stretch. We weren't great going forward, but Newcastle didn't exactly create loads of goal scoring opportunities. As I say, they needed to buy a freekick. If you have to cheat to get a point that's not deserved in my book.

Wilson just did the exact same thing Wieffer did to earn his yellow and received nothing. Burn wiped out Minteh early doors, nothing. Newcastle may have been dominant, but they have needed to rely on simulation to actually get anything out of the game.

Deserved? Really? The freekick that preceded the handball was more simulation. Can't say I'm surprised that Pawson bought it considering how keen he's been all game to give them opportunities to score.

I think we're also really missing Webster. I think him coming in for Dunk for that spell of games improved the defence massively. 11 goals conceded since his injury 😬

Seeing that the club have decided not to appeal it. Seems like a mad decision on the face of it. But I would have thought Edwards would probably be rested on Monday regardless and the FA are renowned for backing the officials 9/10, rightly or wrongly, so probably a sensible decision.

I think that's just it. Top 6 in the PL and competing in Europe was something I never thought we'd experience. I'm hoping it's just a 'hangover' from two seasons of exceeding all my expectations.

He's done ok, sure. A few great performances which I've given him credit for and some not so great performances where I've called him out. But, generally, yes, top 10 in his first season is a success. Even so, rightly or wrongly, I still feel totally jaded by this season.

I had totally forgotten Ferdi was a Brighton player 😅

Right?!? 15 years ago I would have bitten your hand off for this "nasty bump" 😂

Think you may well be right mate. The last two seasons especially have been, for the most part, like living in a dream. This season has brought me down to earth with a nasty bump

Spot on mate. I just can't warm to him at all.

Woeful. Really poor. Shooting ourselves in the foot far too often.

Spot on analysis. The midfield 2 and CF are areas that need to be developed to make the more direct Muslic style more viable. With some clever tinkering, a rest defence in a 4-3-3 shape can transition into a 3-4-3 when attacking but, again, it's having the personnel who can transition between the 2.

The tactical dogmatism in the face of relegation is mind boggling 😵💫
