There’s never been more projection than the whole NPC meme, you can see these guys degrade in real time as they listen to more podcasts and repeat the same lines with the same cadence. They have no intellectual spark, no curiosity, it’s just gone.

Sort of very telling that when admin officials go on TV to talk about these jobs they are very conspicuously not hoping they or their own kids will get to be employed there. It's always someone else's kids working the tiny screw factory in their fantasy future vision of it

Anyway, I don't think most Americans will want to work through the night in the $3.15/hr tiny screw factory, and it seems weird to damage the $75+/hr jobs Apple already has in the US in order to not even create those jobs

they also make most of the software that runs on those phones. It's not that the US doesn't have plenty of smart people or some major input into Apple's success. It's just the bit the US is very good at, and which employs lots of people on high salaries, is somehow disvalued by the admin

Apple literally tried to build macbooks in the US as a big internal flagship project to see if they could and despite huge amounts of money to try and boost US firms to supply it, the US market *literally could not supply it*, and the "made in the US" macbooks *still* had to fly screws in from China

if i were a democratic politician watching the systematic targeting of my entire infrastructure in ways that are obviously illegal and unconstitutional and will cripple me electorally, i would probably fight back

One possibility is NIH won’t be able to spend its entire $47-billion budget by the end of the fiscal year in September which would then be returned to the US Department of the Treasury and reallocated.

this is important to me, I did my master's project on developing tools to measure this (specifically, pro wrestling television & adolescent aggressiveness), we've been doing this for close to 100 years & over & over the research shows no link between what a child consumes & their attitudes/behaviors
