Also, surely this should be the core media narrative about this war - they’re not doing it for any reason they can articulate! There’s no intelligence supporting their claims, Trump himself seemed to think it was a bad idea a week ago, but no one’s in charge and Trump is an easily-pressured fool

I think a key fact people should remember is that Sanders and Warren together still constituted a minority of the 2020 primary votes.

One infuriating social media dynamic atm is high engagement bluesky left/liberal ire at dem elites like Newsom and Cuomo and then seeing facebook normies call critics of Newsom or cuomo "left MAGA" and "letting the perfect be the enemy of the good for "ideological purity"

When people say this, they're referring to the out of touch Dem leadership acting against the interests of what their platform is. Endorsing Cuomo is basically the line in the Dem party of if you're garbage or if you're a normal human

A leftist politician gets endorsements: Proof that this unstoppable juggernaut of a campaign is going all the way!!! Another (shitty rapist murderous filth) politician gets endorsements: HOW DARE THE DNC AMBUSH OUR UNSTOPPABLE JUGGERNAUT LIKE THIS?!? Like, launch Cuomo into the sun, but yeesh.

I know this is something that many ppl on this site are incapable of understanding, but the avg pro-Cuomo primary voter is not keeping a running tally local/state pol endorsements. They remember Cuomo as gov, think his brand of bullying reads as "tough," & dont think sexual harassments a dealbreaker

And if you don't get what Nathan is saying, let me spell it out: 99% of the time, ‘Palestinianism’ means ‘the idea that Palestinians have a shared national identity, which the speaker believes to be a malicious plot’. 1/2

Exactly. And our mutuals who don’t see this are losing the plot in a significant way and letting their own antipathy to the left flank (if not base level Islamophobia) consume them to a nihilistic degree.

Dem defender accounts I used to agree more with like this guy stayed on twitter even after the Nazi takeover and they now advocate purging anyone who is even mildly “Dem socialist curious” from our tent which is untenable if one of our selling points is “we support using govt to help people”

Bush and Cheney had the minimal sense to generate the intelligence they wanted out of thin air rather than just say they felt it in their gut.

Doesnt feel like you can just hit an "end war" button like this, but sure why not

While we are indeed at fault for starting another needless, illegal war, every "US Citizen" is NOT, in fact, a legitimate target. Thank you for coming to my Ted talk.

Iran’s nuclear program is a threat to global security, and they cannot be allowed to have a nuclear weapon. But President’s Trump’s action to bomb Iran with no consultation with Congress is unacceptable and ignores the Constitution.

In case you're wondering why you're seeing a specifically deranged kind of person who doesn't live in NYC going to bat for Cuomo over Zohran recently:

Everyone complaining about how its Andrew Cuomo or Zohran Mamdani and donating accordingly might take seven seconds to think about what the race would look like if Adrienne Adams or Brad Lander had a $10m PAC behind them. The race you end up with is the race you, in no small part, make.

I understand that all that people think they need moderates in elected office to make Democrats more popular, but the "literally any moderate even a disgraced sex pest who is an irredeemably bad administrator" line feels poorly thought through

Thinking about this, is I think there is specifically an impulse we see everywhere, where people "earn" a position of social trust and influence and then lose their minds at the thought of actually having any responsibility besides doing what they want with it or to do anything with it at all

It is remarkable how many western countries with massive aging populations are just completely sticking their heads in the sand about their healthcare systems and what is necessary to maintain even their current abysmal rates of care
