Australia and New Zealand are best frenemies - famously summed up by NZ prime minister Robert Muldoon's comment that a Kiwi emigrating to Australia raised the average IQ of both nations - so I'm sure the Aussie navy knocking out Kiwi-fi went down without any acerbic comments whatsoever...

Train beers ftw

🚨 Britain is a sitting duck for the next major animal disease outbreak — and the government knows it. A damning report from the National Audit Office just dropped. Here’s what you need to know 🧵

1/ THREAD Applying OSint to two different Gaza aid moments: Fri 30 May, south of the Netzarim GHF distribution site, and Sat 31 May, WFP truck(s) in Khan Yunis. On Netzarim, here's what @emmapengelly.bsky.social and I could find, in a BBC live page post: www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/cg...

Seen loads of these this week in Slovakia and Hungary, had wondered what their risk profile was like cf cigarettes. Now I know

Barely in Budapest 4h and saw our first big protest including some incredibly brave souls flying pride flags

I'm reading the report behind these headlines about glyphosate and it may be the most scientifically illiterate thing I've come across (although it's a close thing with the recent MAHA report). 1/n

Guardian Science reporting has gone from best in class to on par with the Daily Mail. Astonishing. Aside from anything else, there is no link between glyphosate and cancer. This is extremely well researched and it's one of the safest pesticides out there. Will the Guardian change the headlines?

Was in a bar earlier with my lovely girlfriend and simply red came on. Oh no, I've now got to explain The Website to her... @carolinehack.bsky.social @safers.bsky.social @theednawatkins.bsky.social @cocoavenus.bsky.social

This photo of magnetic core memory popped up, taken by Ansel Adams. I investigated a bit: this memory holds 4000 bits, each stored in a tiny magnetized ferrite ring. It may be from an IBM 705 vacuum-tube business computer. 1/N

Looks like Google's A"I" has been getting into knives @themountaingoats.bsky.social

After a night of absolutely POURING sweats, I might just be over it, lads. What a thoroughly unpleasant 48h that was. Off to Bratislava in a bit, sorry I didn't get to see much of you, Vienna

Laid up in Vienna with a raging fever (40° earlier) and I've got this stuck on my head youtu.be/azEvfD4C6ow . Delirious, moi?

Service was pretty direct @shitrock.bsky.social

Six years ago today, I was diagnosed with Parkinson's. It's not the end, it's a new trickier beginning. I've carpe'd the diem and slept a lot. I've had four covids, two heart attacks, one wedding, several quiz titles and the best gigs of my career. I know it's trite. But life is for living. Fight.

Gorgeous orange boy!

Extremely loud smooth jazz in the bogs in Heathrow T3 is certainly a choice

The first rule of Anagram Club is muck laudably orangutan boat too.

I am always saying this, phpBB forums and IRC were the peak of the internet

This is genuinely so bad, he can’t even answer basic questions from budding teen atheists lmfao. It’s like that scene in game of thrones when all the children ganged up and stabbed grand maester pycelle to death

Ume, the tapir calf, is the perfect, pretty little baby! 🩷

I guess people like car-free streets once they get a taste of them? 🤷

Today I discovered that people have been uploading old stock photo CD-ROMs to the Internet Archive and now I'm obsessed with the mid-'90s business-core aesthetic.

Honey I’m afraid Yurtel went bust and now we’re yurtless for our glamping. No they didn’t take credit card. Anyway we’re out over ten thousand pounds and they’re not doing refunds

Great internship opportunity for a current MSc/PhD student 👀👀👀‼️ A chance to work on evolutionary simulations for a few weeks in Kyoto with a rising (risen?) star in artificial life research, @sinalana.bsky.social ...

🧵 This is a perfect example of how disordered discourse reshapes democratic politics, not by policy failure, but by the performative targeting of identity. Let’s unpack what’s happening.

This is so ridiculously harmful and has nothing to do with protecting women. It is about social hygiene and the fact that some people think sex work is gross. And it has massive knock on effects.

Transplanting some stuff in the garden. Safe to say this radish is ready for harvest!

When we found this out on the other place, a few of us (actually mainly me and @christhebarker.bsky.social) started putting it into other classic movies.

According to self-report surveys, death does not exist. 100.0% of survey respondents were currently alive and had never died.

www.thecroftbristol.co.uk let's bring back The Croft, it was amazing. I've already bought my shares www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/own-our-ve... , get on it.
