There were definitely concentration camps in Germany (Bergen-Belsen for example). The extermination camps, created later, were in Germany-occupied territory (mostly Poland). Doesn’t make what’s happening right now any less problematic though—still horrifying fascism.

Also if this means your grant is kicked back and delayed a cycle, let’s just say you are in good company. I have a whole story about that re my K, and it did work out eventually!

Learning about Adaptive Leadership with Vidhya Prakash, MD. Interesting and interactive presentation that really dug into what it means to lead and how to do around complex topics. 4/x

As someone with chronic illness/invisible disability, I so appreciate platforming @diekmanmdjd.bsky.social and this topic. These issues are so (ironically) under acknowledged and often poorly supported in medicine, which can trickle down to inadequate understanding/support for patients too. 3/x

Loving the first talk by Anne Beal, MD/MPH on getting what you want and need out of your career in medicine, with a TON of valuable nuanced, practical, and savvy insights to consider. 2/x

Federal grants: it's SO much worse than you know. The idea that only ideologically radical grants were cut is a profound lie. Funds were cut, stalled, AND HHS is not paying bills even if awards were NOT cancelled. The $ stopped, illegally and without explanation grant-watch.us/posts/700-ne...

As a queer person who does work in the lgbtq+ space, the notion that the only way to reference historical context and work around constructs is to use the same exact terms they did is laughable. I promise, new words won’t bite you.

You can reference older theory but then use diff terms (can even explain why in text or a footnote). It’s not like there aren’t *tons* of other examples of people replacing outdated terminology from theoretical work they still reference… words are amazingly useful and adaptable like that.

In addition to being pretty, Dianthus have one of my favorite scents of any flower—kind of spicy/clove-like. Not generally floral scent person, but these are wonderful.
