I am sorry to say that obviously this is indeed who we are. Given the freedom to be as evil as our worst impulses, we have embraced them.

Not toward.

My beautiful Sasha, six months old. Husband reluctantly agreed to get a dog when we lost our fantastic old cat, not sooner, but he caved after the election because we needed her. Sr cat only overlapped with her for a day. He had gotten us to her arrival and was ready to go.

He got more votes each time he ran. And what will people do when they lose their health care? Take up arms against the marines? No election, no recourse short of serious violence

There will be no midterms. Today was step one to martial law. They did not buy the government to have it for two years or to be held accountable for their crimes.
comment in response to post
Exactly. They did not buy the government to give it up in two years. They did not commit all these crimes to be held accountable two years later. Five alarm fire makes D message about candidates and races sound ridiculous.

Too bad he just ignores court orders

So I am from Chicago but am a Nats fan and here along the first base side most of us are grinding our teeth. Except him

Gotta agree with the “can it be AI” posters. No human being would do this. Oh wait…

Congress has this authority. Will he demand that they pass his ever-shifting tariffs, or recognize that whims are ill-suited to legislation? Will the sycophants fall in line?

My signature line here says it all. Read The Oppermans, written in 1933. It is bloodcurdling. We will be gone by Fall, and I know how lucky we are to be in a position to go. Decided before the election and right after put plans into action.

Harvard is just the first. They will kill all of academia because strongmen can’t have alternate sources of information or truth tellers. Be ready.

Ah, how Panglossian we are. Next president, hah! There will be no more free or fair elections. They did not buy the government in order to be held accountable by it. Look at what followed Augustus. We are broken now and our democracy is over.

THESE courts, Andrew, not THE courts. We have a wide variety of rulings up and down the judiciary and most of the illegalities have not yet been ruled on, and scotus just let him fire all trans members of the military while the order is challenged.

Please media, and all who cite media reports, stop calling these kidnappings deportations. Sending a refugee or migrant to a third country is not a deportation, it is human trafficking.

You must be an active member— not just barred. Dc has more barred members than any other jurisdiction but most of us are not actively practicing here and therefore pay the lower fee to be on inactive status.

And so it begins.

We are with the Nazis now

Not aspiring. He has achieved his aspiration. And the republicans won’t stop him, not out of fear but out of sympathy and agreement. The party has given up on democracy, it prefers power under authoritarianism. There will be no more free elections.

Inactive members cannot vote.

Time for yet another email duo adl about why they do not speak for me. What useful idiots they have become.
comment in response to post
Note though that you must be on active status to vote. I am inactive and was disappointed to learn I am ineligible.

Too late, Senator. You know it is.

I worked on this legislation. What a stupid thing to do, right in line with firing cancer researchers and people who vaccinate African kids and help after earthquakes
comment in response to post
Not on the path. We have arrived.

Too bad there won’t be an election in which we can express our political will.
comment in response to post
Agree. The oligarchs and authoritarians did not buy the government for a year or two, only to be held accountable in 2027. There will be no election. State of emergency, martial law, or whatever, but no election.

I work with all of these law firms. These are smart people (and they know it) and I think they believe they are outsmarting Trump, not seeing the big picture, that their capitulation is the prize

I hope not. He would be my neighbor (though my far cheaper house is also for sale).
comment in response to post
They know they would lose in a free and fair election, so mark my words, there will not be one in 2026. Martial law, state of emergency, whatever they call it— no election.
comment in response to post
Which means they are sure to either declare martial law/state of emergency ahead of midterms, or just nullify the results if unsatisfactory. They did not buy the government and commit a wide range of crimes only to be held accountable two years later. Sorry, no 2026 for us.

And all the other ones

Ah, right, impeachment, that always works out for the rule of law

I am a legal recruiter. Hard agree.

The list is the American Lawyer Top 100 law firms, on which Paul Weiss and Perkins Coie both appear. All the rest of you are covering yourselves in Paul Weiss’ shame.
comment in response to post
Wow. This is my world. What is happening???
comment in response to post
Agree completely. I have been saying for weeks that the next step is a state of emergency and no midterms. They have committed too many crimes to allow accountability, and their enablers are too compromised.

Lots of people have asked me if I really think I am personally in danger in this new world. I say we aren’t first in line but if you don’t think white supremacists hate Jews you are delusional. We may be at the back of the line but we are in it.
