Backfire? This was the point all along. You don't increase the supply of workers to keep wages high.

The pendulum in these comments has fully swung the other way. It’s a tragedy, but without details we don’t know that ANYONE did something criminal here. Assuming that ā€œbecause something bad happened, someone should rot in jailā€ is the same rationale that motivated the DA to charge the parents here.

The oligarchs that the US installed after the fall of the USSR. Russia today is a result of the US dismantling the USSR with zero regard for the future of the people there. It’s not the own you think it is.

And without Soviet blood they wouldn’t have been defeated either. It was the effort of a coalition, not just the US. Over the past half century plus the contributions of the soviets have been downplayed significantly while America’s were still emphasized.

Despite 85% of congress being lawyers (the rest are retired or aspiring carnies), she’s the one who seems most compelling at it.

But that is also the most consistent political position of the Democrats. They are interested in finding out ā€œanything but thatā€ that can help them win elections.

ā€œAre you suggesting that we should allow the Italian partisans to continue to attack German supply lines because you agree with what you see as their motivations??ā€

Convenient that you keep calling it ā€œinternationalā€ shipping when it’s been very clear that the shipping disruptions are targeted at Israel and countries enabling or facilitating the genocide they are enacting.

What’s with this framing that America has no ability to rein in its client state?

Admittedly, this is only a snippet, but it seems that taking rape accusations seriously might have changed the outcome here and saved a lot of grief.

Everyone’s line is different imo. From my perspective the answer is that it has less to do with being a ā€œjunkieā€ and more to do with your actual performance. Trump afaik is sober, but incompetent. At the same time, I’ve known a lot of people with different addictions who were great at their jobs.

Musk ā€œleavingā€ at this point is like a serial killed dropping the knife after they stabbed someone 12 times. The damage is done and now they can just admire their depraved handiwork.

Thomas and Gorsuch decisions on native rights make me believe the conspiracy theories that they actually are on the court purely to destroy the USA for its past crimes.

My grandma survived the depression because of FDR and massive government spending projects. She spoke glowingly about him until she died, not about how she could mend a sock or grow a radish.

This is a parallel to the Nuremberg Race Laws of 1935 -- suddenly a specific group (350,000 people!) no longer has legal status. This is a crucial, terrible milestone in the intensification of US fascism.

I know that nobody cares about my fantasy team (not even me most weeks), but I drafted him based on your draft podcasts last year. You were spot on. He was a solid wr2 for me and I was able to trade him for Chase Brown near the deadline, which helped me out a ton.
