T-minus 48 minutes. Great parade views still to be had on Constitution between 21st St. NW and 22nd St. NW.

I think its the right call. Its a big summer, lots of money gonna be spent. And Spurs would have had to recommit to Ange and extend his contract. It would have been a huge bet to double down on Ange given league results. Leaving on top is great and it's a good time for Spurs to start a new project.

Going out on top is a good way to go out.

It is time for European defense integration. As I argued here... www.csis.org/analysis/why...

Seems Max is saying that buying time is good, but only if actually making progress in the interim, and he's not seeing that. Not quickly enough, anyway. Gaslight Trump, sure, but be careful not to gaslight yourselves. Europe still massively dependent on US aegis.

Yes but Europeans think we care as much about arms sales as they do. Exports are small fraction of US defense industry sales. We’re very different than the French or UK… we don’t even provide financing

Don’t disagree, makes the whole summit largely a farce

Totally agree. Trend is clear… but always want more urgency given the huge vacuum.

State Department talking points die very very slowly. We don’t actually care that much about weapons sales TBH.

Sure… but currently there is significant European denialism and a lot of incredibly inefficient national spending. Real need for Europe to reckon with reality we are gone. Rhetoric is there. But a lot of extend and pretend. And I am in Brussels

That’s not really a counterpoint. Europeans just need to realize their latent power instead of pathetically graveling for us to stay… which is what this 5% bs is.
