Hot take: rainbow capitalism is a good thing. Always has been, and is probably more important now than before. Companies thinking they can make a buck off of pandering means we're winning, culturally at least. This is important at a time when our govt is trying to marginalize us again.

If he's your senator, call the Capitol switchboard is (202) 224-3121 and ask for Ruben Gallego. Let him know that he's wrong and that we voted Sinema out for shit like this. I guarantee you have the time, and it doesn't take a lot of people to overwhelm a Senator's office.

Bro, can we not have another backstabbing Democrat from Arizona? We literally just got rid of Sinema for this very reason.

I want to live in a world where a famous person's name starts trending and my first thought is that Criterion announced a box set of their work.

Nobody realizes that the Third Amendment isn't about the government making you share your house with a soldier, and is actually about protecting the people from excessive policing.

Nah, her rhythm has been two reissues one year, then a new album the next year. TTPD came out last year, so they're probably coming later this year.

How fitting to hear that Palantir is working for someone so analogous to the Nazis when its name comes from a book where it was used by the Nazi analogues.

Nobody tell Gavin that the tariffs will hurt trans people, too.

Bad news. $650 is at a 45% tariff. A 145% tariff would put it at $1100.

It's so crazy that it was a surprise that the movie that the movie that won Best Picture last year was also a movie people at large had actually seen when before the 2000s, that was most years.

I honestly think the story for Toy Story 3: Recalled is a better pitch than what Pixar is actually doing for Toy Story 5.

This isn't satire, this is just a headline from later this year...

The only way I'm watching anything to do with the new Lilo and Stitch movie is if they force me to, Clockwork Orange-style. From what I'm hearing, that sounds like the right call.

Not censorship. They're just geolocked to the UK. Unless there's been an update, No Other Land doesn't have a distributor in the US despite having won an Oscar now.

Best Animated Film usually means "best movie that is also animated" and not "best animation in a movie", and Flow was easily the best movie of 2024 that was also animated.

Also Johnny Belinda, Becket, and The Power of the Dog were each nominated for 12 Oscars and took home only 1 award each, which is the record for smallest noms-to-wins ratio that still won something. This record could also be broken tonight.

As for Sup. Actress, it's a balancing act for me between honoring Saldaña's terrific career in sci-fi films and letting Emilia Pérez win ANYTHING. If it only wins one, I'd be okay with this, but I cannot take the Academy seriously if it wins Picture, Director, Actress, Screenplay, or International.

Apes also deserves the VFX win over Dune mostly because the Reboot of the Planet of the Apes films have had stunning effects and have yet to win. Meanwhile, Dune already won the first time around and will almost certainly win again when Dune Messiah comes out.

I don't think this'll be who wins, not least because if Dune was gonna sweep, it would have been up for more. I also haven't seen Sing Sing (yet), so that might have changed my Actor and Screenplay picks.

I think there's a similar thought process between "Pluto is still a planet" and "there are only two genders". Like the universe can't be more complicated or nuanced than what you learned in grade school.
